So last night I was REALLY upset about something dumb and I couldn't sleep. So I drank 2/3rds of a bottle of wine. I woke up, realizing just how dumb and counterproductive that was.

I have a serious problem, methinks.

I hear you. I do the same s**t, although I'm probably worse than you are. Who knows.

Do you do this often? Or was this a one-time thing?

As long as this is a one-time thing, I don't see a serious problem.

If you do this often, then there's definitely a problem.

People make mistakes all the time. The key is not to obsess about them--but to learn from them.

Drinking and vomiting is not exactly my idea of pleasure.

My advice: Don't think of yourself as an idiot; think about how you could prevent your drinking so much wine in the future.

Please have a lovely day.

When I was in my early 20's I would have trouble falling asleep due to thoughts buzzing about in my head. So to help me sleep I developed the habit of having a little nightcap drink. Or two. Or more. This rather quickly took me down a bad path.

I admire your self-awareness that this may be something to keep an eye on.

You realised how dumb that was, so you are pretty smart. Everyone stuffs up sometimes.

Thanks everyone. Things have been building up for a while and I guess I just made a daft decision in the heat of the moment. I don't usually do stuff like this, but I have noticed a correlation between how excessively I drink and my emotional state. What I need to do is not drink when I'm feeling sad or distressed, which means that I will not keep a stock of alcohol in the house and I will try not to drink alone unless I'm sure I will be in a jovial mood and do it responsibly. That way, I can avoid future incidents such as this one.

Thanks for the support :)

I felt the same way. When I do something wrong or without thinking, I accuse myself of being a idiot or being stupid. I argued to myself almost constantly. The next few minutes, I felt better.

You're obviously not from Australia. I know plenty of Australians who kick through one bottle of wine a night and then wonder why we say Australia has a problem with alcohol, usually because that one bottle of wine isn't anywhere near the level of alcohol they need to get drunk.

sometimes I see myself as an idiot. I often post things impulsively and an hour later I regret saying that. I'm like what the heck was I thinking?!

I get upset about dumb stuff all the time and I drink to it all the time as well.. hell, it's already on the agenda for tomorrow night. :|

I wouldn't get upset about it because honestly it's very normal, just a matter of how often you do it really.

/e I guess it's easy for me to say though, because I do it often. As long as you're not getting injured, getting behind the wheel or feeling as if it's something you need to do, you're perfectly fine. I personally do none of those things.

Haha, I'm actually Scottish! I also have an Irish dad, so I'm surprised at how much of a lightweight I turned out to be! XD

I get drunk from one glass of wine nowadays and don't drink at all anymore due to how it makes me feel (I don't like the sensation). I used to drink like a fish in my younger years. I could down a fifth of tequila and laugh at everyone else under the table. I seem to have a very odd response to substances, including anaesthesia, though. I have had two colonoscopies and have woken up both times during them for lack of anaesthesia. I also need more pain relief when I have dental procedures. Maybe that's part of my AS.
