I can;t work, go to college, or do anything xconstructive as I f**k it up.

I can't make friends because I'm too damn ret*d rto talk to anyone properly.

I'm not even as intelligent as I like to think, really.

I am no use to anybody and when i think about logically I don't know why I'm wasting oxygen

A therapist would have a field day with that.

Sorry to hear you're in that mood, though. Sometimes everything just goes to hell at once.

I'd like to make a counterpoint which may help you:

A) You can work, unless you're a quadrapalegic.
B) You can go to college, unless you're blind and deaf.
C) You can do constructive things, unless you're lazy or afraid of failure.
D) You can make friends, if you are a friend.
E) "The sign of a true intellectual is knowing how much there is you don't know."

Two guys go fishing. One gets no bites for an hour and goes home. The other spends twelve hours of frustration trying desperately whatever he can try to catch just a single fish, eventually catching only a small minnow. One guy is a failure, and one guy is not.

Now imagine you're the guy who catches this minnow. It's not fair, right? You tried and tried and nothing seemed to work, and now that you've worked SO hard for SO long, you only catch one little bitty fish. You feel like the loser, like the world is playing a joke on you. But at the end of the day... you are the one who caught the fish, and not the guy who gave up.

It is possible to think about things too much, so take it easy. You'll never be happy unless you let yourself be.

I feel this way so much of the time. But one can fight and try to make things a little bit better. What helps me the most is to make lists of things that I want/need to do, and do them in order. Maybe some such trick will work for you. I've gotten out of this habit, but absolutely need something, because I'm collapsing again.

I can;t work

You know I had trouble finding and keeping a job in my field after I got out of tech school. How I got at my current position was,I needed some experience so I started volunteering as the IT person for an after school program, they were so impressed with me, so they decided to hire me.

I would highly reccomend you start volunteering somewhere, it's great to get some work experience/something to put on your resume, a chance to meet people/network, and who knows they may offer a job. Plus you'll be doing something constructive. :D

Why can't you go to college, do you have a learning disability? Even if you don't most colleges offer accomodation services to those with disabilities. Things like taking a test in a seperate room and being allowed a little more time on the test, being allowed access to lecture notes, and in the case of AS counseling and support services.

Again if you volunteer somewhere that is a great way to meet people. Also what sorts of things interest you,or do you play any sports? You might try to find some clubs or interest groups in your area, thats another great to meet people.

I feel that way myself at times also. Several things go to crap at once and because of my depression/black and white thinking, all of a sudden I find myself spiraling downward in my thinking that my whole life is s**t.

But then I feel better eventually.

I agree about volunteering. I've done it and it does make you feel good. And unlike work, if you get overwhelmed, you can leave whenever you want - just walk out the door.

I can relate about college - I just tried a distance program but the audio/visual complications are making it almost impossible for me to learn. So I'm very discouraged.

Ok, so how can I work when nobody will give me a job that doesn't completely degrade me

The college I know will simply not provide the support I need (which is a lot, as I have anxiety problems)

My fear of failing totally cripples me to the point where I can;t even cook pizza

And the people around me know I'm actually not too bad at being a friend, still they only come to me when everybody else is unavailable

What hurts is that I know I have the intelligence to get degrees and beyond, but I won't do that because I get too anxious and too overloaded

As to work, I found manual labor the least degrading thing that I've ever done. You should consider it.

It all has to be done in small steps. Just try and set a few tiny goals, and meet them. I really do suggest the lists. I've just got to manage to write them out myself. The act of putting them on paper makes them more important to me.

I think having no skill for practical work whatsoever limits me somewhat.

To be honest I don't even know why I'm trying to overcome this, as I know I won't.

This pain will be there forever

My diagnosis: You don't want to get 'better.'
My prognosis: Eternal mediocrity.

Dissenting opinions can be e-mailed to my secretary where they will be deposited directly into file 13.

Thanks for coming gentlemen and have a great day. :D

Ah yes that's why I'm seeking help, because I don't want to be getting better.

It is a good job I was brought up not to insult people.

There will be something you're good at. Why don't you list here some of the things you like?

Nothing gives me the excitement that my photography used to give me

I like to read and use my computer, and watchTV, that's about it. My life is pathetic really

Pricks don't try to help other people at no benefit to themselves. My advice is not welcome here. I was not thanked for it, nor was it acknowledged that my advice or caring enough to attempt to help was appreciated. No one's advice has. Its still there to be read and its still there able to help anyone who wants to take it to heart. I've still got plenty more to give but I need to see an effort to make sure its worth my time. Some people, believe it or not, don't really want advice when they ask for it. Take that to heart.
