I'm really, really, REALLY sick of people who don't understand me reacting by ignoring me until I get upset and give up. It takes a lot for me to build up the courage to reach out to people, so when it gets stomped on it just makes it even harder next time. And ensures at least a month of sulk. But I don't have the confidence to say "hey! LISTEN TO MEEEEEEEE!". Should I just give up?

No. You shouldn't take a negative reaction from others to be definitively indicative of a problem with you. It could be a problem with those that have ignored you. Don't give up, since you simply may not have met people that don't have that problem, whatever it may be.

I agree with Shade...don't give up. It is a real cliche but true...you don't know what might be around the corner and what you might miss out on if you close your eyes to it all.

Pretty much. These aren't going to be your friends. You might find uses for them, but you need more.

Yeah, but it's not just a few people - it's everyone I've tried to get on with since my 'friends' did their little stab-in-the-back-with-many-sharp-knives routine. I've generally lost my ability to connect with other people somehow :x

I first read the title of this thread to be "Ignore me and I'll go away" cuz that's what I do.

Me too. At least in real life. I have to deal with this all the time. Just know that there is better. Use what you need out of these people, but know that they aren't your friends. Not really. Keep waiting. Better will eventually come along again.
