People are driving me nuts

I'm so angry and frustrated at the moment. I can't stand some people! Please excuse me if I go off on a rant, but I have to get this off my chest.

This site right now, ugh. It's not the same as it was when I joined. More "trollish" users are joining, fights keep breaking out, people keep creating threads like, for example, "I am against gay marriage marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman" which they should know is bait for drama, and some people's posts are just plain horrible. Also, a certain one or two users keep saying rude things to me, and I can't tell if they're joking or not so I'm not sure whether to report them to a moderator or not. And what's worse, I can't ignore them because the foe list thing doesn't work (BTW, I've seen these users' profiles and I think all of them say "Have Asperger's - Diagnosed. Pfft, yeah right!) I know that it's the internet and the mentality of the internet is that people can be a bit horrible to each other, but this is a place specifically dedicated to offering help and advice to people who need it.

That's all I have the energy to type right now. I might add a few more things later.

The Internet can be a strange place. On Thursday evening I was playing online Scrabble with someone and when I played a nice bonus word the other player got upset and accused me of cheating. Then no-played me so I couldn't respond to her paranoia. People sometimes create their own realities, especially when dealing with a little avatar of someone who could be anywhere in the world. It feeds the ego of some people to do this. Luckily most players on the site are very decent and don't make false allegations when their opponent is winning.

Take a short nap or grab a coffee to recharge your batteries when that sort of thing happens.

I can't really say anything about WP since I'm new, but I've noticed from being on the Internet for so long -- Summer in the US can be troll season since more people are home from school etc.

I understand what you mean. It's really frustrating. I'm mainly on here to meet others I can relate to, and having to dig through piles of rubbish to find the interesting people isn't fun in the least... I find that when I do find those people it's worth the wait. Try talking to more people that interest you. Hit me with a PM if you get the chance. You seem like a person that I wouldn't mind talking to.

Eh, I feel that the site is definitely going through a 'stupid' phase, but a lot of what you're objecting to is genuine opinions from a handful of religious posters, who do exist and do have a right to discuss their opinions here. It can be very difficult to identify a true troll on an AS board since obsessive interest and seeming obtuseness, along with a heavy dose of stubbornness, can really come off as trollish when the person in question is genuinely trying to engage, albeit in a way that can be annoying. Genuine trolls, with a few notable exceptions, tend to be banned quickly, and if you think you've identified one, certainly report them, as the new button makes it easy and anonymous, and you can add a quick explanation of why you believe the member in question is actually a troll.

Great to see a few fresh new members here! Welcome to one and all. I hope you'll find many interesting people here to engage with.

We do try to bear with everyone and allow freedom of expression but feel free to PM me or one of the other mods, or make a report, should there be anything you feel oversteps the boundaries, as well as any other comments you wish to make.

Sorry to hear that some of the posts on here are hurting you. I've had that happen to me recently, too. I promise, though, that not all of us on here are trolls. I'm certainly not.
