Hello! I'm sure anyone who has Aspergers/HFA either currently has, or has had, an obsession on a given topic at some point in there lives. I do have a couple of obsessions that have lasted my entire life thus far since they were acquired when I was a little kid, and gained an additional long term one later in life. But I guess what I want to know is whether or not there is such a thing as a short term obsessions. Or more specifically, obsessions that are extremely short lived (i.e. lasting only a year, or even in the space of a few weeks).

I guess the reason I am asking is because I've have had a number of short term obsessions back when I was in college, many of them in wildly different subjects, and these short term obsessions have actually derailed entire career plans (yes I did manage to graduate just fine and on time, but just not in a field that I would have liked :? ). Are these obsessions even normal?

Sometimes I abandon an obsession for another and rebegin feeling interest in it a few months later.
