why are people who look at porn considered evil?

my family still views people who look at porn as evil and creepy. so if I ever get found out I'll have to leave and suppose that means I can never date that one lady my sister knows(not like it happen) .

I could only imagine they really hate me if they find out I'm into petplay.

sucks living with people who would hate you and probably aren't able to really love you.

not sure why owning porn mags or watching porn makes a person bad and evil in line with people who look at child porn or abuse children.

Well, some argue that porn demeans and objectifies men and women and the industry is notoriously shady and abusive, but I wouldn't ever say that people who watch it are evil...I think really only borderline psychotic religious fundamentalists would come to that conclusion and who cares what they think, anyway?

Heck, I'm a Christian and I watch porn....although, I really only watch the "golden era" of '60s-'90s adult films, back when they were actual quasi-artsy movies instead of just sex loops. I don't get aroused by it nor have I ever masturbated to it, but it's certainly an area of my interest.

I also read stories. all of it is consented. some of the stories I read would be considered evil too. though I been told by others they just fantasies that no one would want to do then its not bad , but Christians say all porn is bad so I imagine they'd burn me at stake. :S

Well, lust is something that tempts us all, everybody understands that, even Christians. If your parents are the type who'd kick you out of the house just for looking at porn, then their priorities lie less with actual Christian values and more with their own deep-seated insecurities, and alas, we can't help you with that.

If it bothers you so much, then you can always take active steps to not look at porn. Do you think you have an addiction? You can always manage to distract yourself with hobbies or other coping mechanisms.

There are many kinds of porn, and not all of it depicts women being abused. Some of it is truly art.

It'd be less shady if it were less censured by the same society the demand for it comes from.

Stephen Sayadian's 'Nightdreams' and 'Cafe Flesh' are some of my favorite movies of the 1980s, and I'm pretty sure I have a poster for 'Sex World' among my collection...you don't have to tell me that porn is art.

I don't mean on-camera "abuse", I mean the treatment of actors behind the scenes. There's a lot of horror stories about rampant exploitation, sexism and degradation in the industry, as any of the many former porn stars turned anti-porn activists will attest to. As I know little about the modern state of pornography compared to 40 years ago, I can't really say much about it.

Sex is neither inherently good nor evil, just like electricity & energy are neither inherently good nor evil, and just like with everything else, only becomes a problem if it's been forced onto another or coerced or freely given to the abusive.

I have no problem nor qualms about taking about sex, watching sex, viewing hentai, etc., and I even have many links saved into a URL-file & huge collections of sex-videos & hentai-clips, too, and maybe I'm just lucky this way, but girls I have encountered don't seem to have a problem with my random mention & talk about the perverted things I say. For that matter, I make perverted remarks all the time, but I do it in a « haha just kidding » manner (then again maybe I might not necessarily be joking after all about wanting to adopt every pretty young girl I encounter & talk to into having them as an imouto with whom I may have a wonderfully incestuous-relationship as their onii-san ! ).

As mentioned above, because it is sexual and some religions view that as evil. I am a Catholic and I do not see it or anyone who views it as evil. I think it is healthy to watch it.

i have no problem with porn addiction , i have a high sex drive though and if not releived it gets worse and worse and worse til I only think about sex. I like others have to do it a few times a day sometimes to keep under control.

why should I have to stop looking at porn it wont' change that to them I've evil.

so when you say porn you mean professional production porn. anything that shows nude bodies is considered pron. a girl post picture that's porn shares with a guy that's porn. she live streams a video of her doing stuff, thats porn. a couple makes a tape that's porn. the big production professional porn is a tiny part of porn it only gets the most attention because its paid advertisements and sold in stores.

I much prefer the amateur stuff where they do it themselves and its often just a girl or couple who wants to share, more often then not for free.

nice to see not everyone thinks so. still would you feel not good living in a rented house with your family who talks about such people, not knowing you are one, as begin evil?

I have hypersexuality as part of my bipolar, so I'm easily prone to sexual addiction (as I'm prone to drug and alcohol addiction, which I've struggled with), but I've taken steps to deal with it in agreeable moderation. It's not impossible at all, it's just a matter of building self-control.



You said your parents don't know that you watch porn, so how could you be "evil" "to them" if they're unaware of it? I'm not trying to sound mean, but it sounds like you have much deeper problems with your parental relationship than whether or not you watch pornography. I would highly suggest counseling based on comments like that.



"Pornography" is anything which is explicitly and graphically designed to evoke sexual arousal in its audience. Doesn't matter if its a professionally-produced film or amateur camgirls or an erotic novel, it all has the same purpose. I would also use that term to apply to anything for which a person finds subjective arousal in. Like, for example, if somebody specifically gets their rocks off watching female wrestling, then that's their "pornography" as opposed to being objective pornography like X-rated movies.

pron addction is spending all waking moments looking at porn or ignorign responsibilities to look at porn. I've never been addicted to anything.

just like if you you're around people who want to kill aspies but don't know you are one, well if they find out they'd want to kill you. so does them not knowing and living in fear that when they find out they want you dead make you feel better no. like being a black guy in a anti black people thread. they dont' know you black but still hate you for beign black if they knew. but I was refering to the idea that all porn is bad and abusive to women, takes only professional pron in to consideration. a woman enjoying showing her self off is not being abusive to herself.
its the same as when a whit guy kills a black guy and everyoen starts talking about how horrible white people are. porn shouldn't be judged off of the professional stuff there's a whole lot more to porn then that stuff.

Okay, then it should be no problem weaning yourself down to either completely stopping watching/using it or down to a moderate use which you could consider yourself comfortable with.

It just sounds like you have major issues with overbearing parents. Like I said, I wasn't being cute when I said you might want to consider either counseling or family counseling to help work out these issues.

We're talking about puritanical America. A lot of this puritanical thought comes from New England of the 17th century, and still exists to this day, and I quite agree with it, even though I watch porn myself. From what I've been told, attitudes about sex are a lot more relaxed in Europe.

Absolutely. I can't speak for culture and society, but I'm a big fan of cult and exploitation cinema, and while America has a long history of censoring sex but glorifying violence, British and European films are conversely notorious for censoring violence but glorifying sex. It's a total 180 in that regard.
