Let's me explain.

I am having trouble looking for support groups or just information and all I see are pages dedicated to mothers with autistic children or mothers of autistic children complaining about their autistic child.

I can understand Google will pull key words but than I go to websites dedicated to Autism Support and the majority of these groups some with catered food and money spent for entertainment are not for autistic people but for autistic mothers to meet and greet without their autistic adult children or children.

Why is it so many of these groups that claim to support us but only seem to support people who are not autistic but rather mothers who just want to talk about themselves.

In some of these forums I even see autistic mothers attacking people with autism who don't agree with Dr Mom's theory on what needs to be done to raise or treat people with autism.

Quite simple really: among the bigger public, "autism" is still a kid that's rocking in the corner, or running around screaming and hand-flapping.
the parents of these need support and time away from their "trouble makers".

To the majority of autism support groups, high-functioning autism simply doesn't exist, becouse there is no real fear in that frame, so they can't scare money in their pockets.

The worst part of these support groups are that some survive on donations for helping those with autism but it seems those donations go to support luncheons for narcissistic mothers to give them a soap box to talk about themselves and a free lunch provided by people who thought they were supporting those with autism.

It's like asking for money to support Blind People but yet all the groups or the majority of the groups don't go to blind people but for the parents of blind people so they can chat about how great they are because they had blind child and how the parents should get all the money and support. Yet at the same time complain about their blind children.

I just don't get it people are funding not the disabled people but people who are not disabled.
