I feel powerless in this situation:
I have a close male friend who also has Asperger's like myself who has been associating with someone who he considers as a friend. From what I have seen and heard about his friend, I don't think he's a good friend. For one thing he been known to tease my friend by calling him up and saying "Let's hang out more often" and when it comes to committing he doesn't act upon it.

What is worse is that my friend has been looking for a job and this "Friend" of his evidently calls him once a month and asks if he has found a job. Rather than help him network, he teases him by saying "Have you found a job?" "Dude you need to get a job."

From what I have seen he sounds very selfish and self centered. He could care less about what happens to my friend because everything else is more important.

Though I suggested that my stop taking his calls and texts, another side of me would love to get a hold of him and ask why he is "Teasing" my friend. I would also like to mention that I think he's a selfish person who obviously doesn't care about my friend. More importantly, if you cared so much for him then you would get ahold of every network out there.

Yep....maybe the "friend" should be more active in helping your friend look for a job, rather than merely ask him if he has a job yet.

Who knows about the "hang out" part? If the "friend" truly is stating that he'd like to hang out with your friend more, then turns around and cancels frequently, then there might be something wrong--or maybe the "friend" is just unreliable, has poor executive function, can't plan his/her life, etc.

He invited my friend to an convention during Labor Day Weekend that I am known to attend. When he first showed up, I was lucky to be waiting outside for another friend when he arrived. So he has us to do con with. As for his "Friend" he ditched us and ran off to game with a group of other people for a few hours and was not where he said he was going to be after.

It makes me mad because that's my friend and I hate seeing him hurt by this guy who I disliked from day 1.

That "friend" sounds like many people I know. I don't think it's malicious. This person is just not all that deep. This person goes where the flow brings him/her. High expectations for this person is futile.

Not a good "friend," obviously.

I wouldn't say that it's malicious either but rather more selfish and self centered. I asked my friend why he keeps on associating with him. He thinks because he has a career and all these things that my friends wants.
