Hey, guys. I'm back with more rants. First off, my computer. EVerytime I log on to the internet, it sometimes reads on the lower tab WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER and the upper tab will read CONNECTING but nothing will happen, and I often end up restartiong the computer like 1 or 2 times, and then have to wait another 2 minutes for it to finish booting up, and it's GETTING ON MY NERVES!! !! ! GOd d**n it, why can't I have a computer that works? The first laptop that I owned was slow as hell, was extremely noisy, and ran very hot. THis one is faster, runs cooler, and is less noisy than the lower end model, but the internet doesn't always work! F*8k!! !! !

I also am very nervous about my future still. I keep daydreaming about owning a really cool high quality home theater stereo when I'm living out on my own, but yet, I read on various websites and in various books that middle class families are going broke, and I don't want to be like those people. I want to get ahead, have a career I can be proud of, and be able to indulge in cool luxuries such as a good home theater stereo etc.

You'll have to live within your means, and if doing so means you'll have money left over for luxuries fine, if not, oh well.

I'm worried about my future too...
I don't know what I'm gonna do because I don't want a 9-5 office job like my parents do
I wanna be a singer-though I'm 99% sure that won't happen :(

I am worried about my future too. I work a 9-5 job and don't have a cent to retire on and I retire in only 8 years! I have never been to DisneyLand or DisneyWorld. I have never had a home theatre and will never have one, probably. I don't own a house, and my car is 16 years old. My boss is a dick and my boss'es boss is a smaller one (HA!)
My parents have been dead for years and the rest of the family thinks I am 'ret*d' and avoid me.
My laptop was obsolete four years ago and I bought this desktop off a laundry room bulletinboard for 150.$ USD and I am patching the cable modem off the guy in the apartment upstairs. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work and it gets me 11.60 an hour.

Good luck you guys.

Merle

I never managed to get into that life style.
But, I pretty much lucked out, until recently.
Once I'm out of this incarnation, it looks like
I'll probably have to do exactly that, at least
until I can get my s**t sorted out enough that
I can telecommute.

Merle - I'm terrified that I'm going to end up
in that kind of situation. If I had any gumption,
I'd be fine - but I just don't know if I can even
face the workaday world. The longest job
that I've ever held is for a couple of years.
Eventually, I end up just not being able to
take it, and collapsing mentally. I know it's
completely different, but the fears are the same,
deep down.

That is exactly what I am afraid of about my future. I'm worried that I'll have to have a lifestyle like that. Like I said, I want a rewarding career that pays well, a good home theater system, a nice computer, an okay boss (not looking for one who goes goo-goo-gah-gah over everything, don't worry), and a nice new car, and I want a nice house as well.

I don't want to be stuck in a boring low-paying job, I don't want to have to settle for a boombox all over again, I get frystrated very easily with even minute problems with computers, I don't want a boss that hates me or takes advantage of me, I do not want to drive a clunker for a car, and I do NOT want to be stuck in a spartan apartment where I get continuously harassed about noise, etc.

Merle, how on Earth did you end up in a situation like that?

I want very little out of life. Basically, I want to have my guitars, my own small, dark apartment, a menial yet enjoyable job where I can make enough to pay the rent/bills/etc, and maybe one or two friends who I talk to a few times a month. That's pretty much it. I don't even really want a relationship anymore. I don't think I can ever be happy living with other people.
