Whenever she makes something she always throws all the stuff she can in it thinking we're gonna like it!

When she makes muffins most of the time what she'll do is put grated carrots, grapes, nuts, chocolate nuggets, banana and a thousand spices! I've told her many times before that it doesn't taste good when she puts all at once and that she should make muffins with one flavor like just carrots or chocolate and banana but she never stops!

Today she made submarine breads with pepperoni, spaghetti sauce and gratin cheese. I hate melted cheese and she knows it. She thought that if she put spaghetti sauce on it I'd like it more for some reason. She always think that if she puts something I like in something I don't like then I'll suddendly love it. Thats not how it works!

I may suggest learning to cook for yourself. It's really not very hard. To cook gourmet level isn't easy, but basic cooking anyone can do. If you don't like what you are being offered, perhaps make your own.

Guarantee once you are on our own and you gotta make all your own stuff, moms stuff will taste a hell of alot better!

Cooking is a very useful skill--moreso if you are picky about what you eat, like many Aspies. I really like plain hamburgers--though I'll have it with lettuce and ketchup to make it easier on the order person--plus I really need to eat more veggies--but I really like plain hamburgers.

Not really. I can make steak, pork chops, grilled sandwiches and noodles like spaghetti.

Then refuse to eat what your mother cooks and make yourself some steak, pork chops grilled sandwiches and spaghetti-like noodle dishes instead.

OR learn how to cook other dishes, and then offer to cook them for your mother.

Why not ask your Mum if you can cook one night a week, you'll be learning how to cook different kinds of meals as well as giving your Mum a night off.

Cooking is fun and you'll have something that will benefit you for years to come.

The simple answer here is you start doing the cooking instead. Make her the muffins you described and let her try them once you have them how you like them for instance. And next time tell her to leave the cheese off :) (I can understand about the cheese it gets very greasy if the wrong sort is grilled that is disgusting)

I am a very fussy eater (not as bad now) I am probably different than most on here I can't abide bland food it has to be very strong tasting or spicy. In my family house if you didn't like the meal you made your own. So I started making my own food from about 10 I think. My mum is a good cook though at least so I didn't need to make all my own meals.

How texture sensitive are you? It's easy for someone like your mom to cook a million different spices and textures and enjoy it, not always for us. I'm so bad I don't even put toppings on my pizza, personally.

It really does play a lot into autism, honestly. Wanting more plain texture and flavor is common for a lot of us, have you explained that to her? I mean.. don't play too deep into it. My diet is horrible and I eat about 5 different things. Still, keep up the variety, just, if you want food to be more plain don't feel bad about it.

Very sensitive. I particularly hate chewy stuff like mushrooms, fish also makes me gag. I like crunchy stuff though. Anyways I can't use autism as an excuse because I'm undiagnosed.

I hate both mushrooms and fish (or any seafood at all) too. You will likely find your tastes will expand somewhat as you get older. When i was 15 I hated alot of stuff that I now like. And now hate some stuff that I used to like.

Like I used to hate any lettuce but Iceberg lettuce. Ate that, but any weird greens made me queasy. Now I like all sorts of different salad greens. I used to hate steaks. Now I love them.

I used to love things like Hot Pockets, Chunky Soup, Kraft mac n cheese and pre-prepared stuff like that. Now I cant stomach most of it.
