Long story short, we had to put our dog Dobey down due to cancer on Sunday after an emergency situation.

I've had no less than 10 meltdowns since then, at varying times of the day and what have you. I feel like I have regressed even more back than I have already due to stress and anxiety. I know he's in a better place now where he is in no pain, but it feels alien in the house knowing that he is not there. I went through this just over 10 years ago as well, and don't know how it gets any easier.

Hey andrethemoogle.

I don't think it gets easier; the pain just becomes less unbearable as time passes. Continue to cherish those memories you've had with him.

p.s. Just wondering, was Dobey a doberman?

Visit the pound and make eye contact and skin contact with some puppies and dogs. You don't have to adopt one, but the canine contact will do you good. Dobey would want you to do it.

I'm sorry you lost your dog :( .
I don't think it gets easier, you just end up adjusting to their absence over time.
