Have they determined that it is cancer? Have they determine whether it has spread?

I understand you don't want to lose your mum. And I understand that not knowing is frustrating.

They don't know. Apparently they will only find out for sure during and/or after the operation. The tumour is 12cm. The doctors say it is "suspicious" and have referred her to have the operation done at a hospital that specializes with cancers.

Sounds very life-threatening. I just want it to be over with and be told that it hasn't spread, or if it has, that it's only mildly spread and just requires minor treatment and will recover.

I'm sorry you and your mother are dealing with this. It has to be very hard. Best wishes.

My sister had a tumour removed when she was in her late 20s. Weighed in the region of 2 pounds, so pretty big. In her case though it wasn't cancer.

I hope this is the same case for your mother.

This is actually very true.

It is frequently said that the larger the tumour, the less likely it is to be cancerous.

Reading this has put me at ease.
