My stomach is sensitive to the sun, the sun can make me a little sick to my stomach & easily put me in a bad mood. I don't know why, maybe because I'm sensitive to a lot of things. That why I HATE my apartment, there toooo much sun coming through my windows & other stuff too that I can't deal with. And I can't handle my cat a lot of the time too. Every apartment I had, something always wrong with it, mostly the sun. I wish I know what to do to make me happy about living here.

Buy better curtains to block out the sun?

Go to the auto parts store and get some window film for cars and put it on your windows. That way they are tinted and its not as bright.

Careful with that, could be illegal wherever you live. Make sure the tinting isn't too dark. I got a $200+ dollar ticket a few years back because my front driver windows were apparently too dark. The tinting was on the car when I bought it.

Dude, review the thread. She's not talking about the Windows in a car; she's taking about the windows in her apartment!

8O ..... ground control to major Tom. I knew that Kitty was talking about windows in her apartment, I don't know why I thought OOM was talking about car windows, the word "auto" and "car" must have caused a fatal error in my thought process. I'm as bad as a computer apparently

The only thing you'd need to worry about is ID it's easy to remove and leaves no residue or else you'll lose your security deposit

Kitty, you can get blackout curtains and/or blackout shades. They aren't that expensive. Personally I'm the exact opposite of you, I have to have sunlight, but I understand how someone can be the other way.

I am a shut-in who spends 99% of my time in my apartment. I am what people would refer to as a "hikikomori". I only leave my apartment to buy groceries. Sometimes I see my family, if I can get a ride. My illness keeps me within an hour to two hour radius from my house.

Listen up, because I speak from experience and I know what I'm talking about.

1. The sun is not what is putting you in a bad mood. Sometimes it can be bothersome, but a good set of blinds, or even newspapers or garbage bags will do. You could have also have a mould problem that's making you sick, and irritable. I have mould issues in my apartment. That's just apartment living. Use a lysol wipe to scrub off the mould around the windows or bathtub or wherever it collects, and circulate the air with open windows and fans.

2. I've had a problem with every apartment I've ever lived in too, including this one. Unless you're rich, you make do. Things have gotten better here, because enough tenants complain about things, then stuff gets done.

3. Clean your apartment, wash your dishes, and do laundry regularly. Your apartment is your castle, it is your refuge, it is your sanctuary. Treat it as such.

4. Get a stuffed cat instead. I have cared for pets before, because I've lived with many roommates who have had pets. As much as I love animals, and get along with them, I do not want one for myself. There are many people who would gladly adopt a cat, and give it a loving home. Maybe consider doing that, if the cat is too much. I have a few stuffed dogs.

Follow these steps, and that will greatly improve your apartment.

Remember. Your apartment is your palace. Treat it as such.

I can easily get in a bad mood. What color is mould?

I can't wait to GET OUT of my apartment! I have 5 more months on my apartment lease. I have MORE problems with living here.

What are blackout curtains? And they have windows films at The Home Depot.

Blackout curtains have multiple layers of fabric so all light is blocked. Oh and I found out that sometimes you can get disability agencies to buy them for you if you have a medical condition. So good luck!

And if that fails - you can buy them at Penney's.
