I don't want to move even though everyone else is so excited

I went into my new house for the first time yesterday, and it didn't feel like home at all. And there were too many people around helping unpack. I spent some time unpacking books/records in the library, trying to get over how unhomely (I know that's not a word, but it's all I can think of) the place felt.

Eventually I just couldn't take it, hid myself in a closet and had a breakdown.

This house is nothing like our old house and I hate it. I tried looking around for good things but couldn't find anything. It feels like a certain style of home that I can't put my finger on. All I know is that it's certainly different from our old house by a lot.

It's been the joke of the family that I'm not interested in the house, don't want to see it, but I'm just naturally stubborn and will like it once I see it. Well, now I've seen it.

I dunno, maybe it's just because nothing's unpacked yet it feels so empty. And I get that we couldn't buy the house we're in right now due to certain circumstances. But I've lived in that house for four years. My great-grandma and grandpa lived in it for a lot longer, so it's always been apart of the family. I don't want to lose it.

My family moved when I was twelve.
To a different city.
Which was hard, because I actually did have friends in my old neighborhood.
I always look back on that old neighborhood with nostalgia,
thinking of how good it was.

Meanwhile,
yes, your house will feel less empty once you're all unpacked and moved in.
Yes, it will feel different, ... because it is different.
Yes, it's hard right now because your other relatives lived at the other home, too, and you miss it.

And yes, I think you'll eventually like your new home.

It's always difficult to move to a new place. For everybody.

Your feelings are perfectly natural.

You should try to keep in touch with your friends from your own neighborhood.

You'll get used to your new home soon.
