Sometimes, I just don't know how much more I can take of my life. I just started a new job and the people there know about my ASD and have been wonderful, but I can't help but feel overwhelmed when I'm working and I feel pathetic because I should be able to do this easy job, especially with the accommodations they are giving me, but I struggle every day and come home feeling defeated.

I'm in school too and I struggle to keep up. I have been told I am more than capable enough to do the work, but I find myself always falling behind. This semester is almost over and I'm going to take summer off (to work and save money) and then start again in the fall but I fear failing and struggling again in the fall. My biggest issue is I feel like a failure compared to my much more successful peers and every day, I feel like I am letting my family and everybody else around me down.

Thanks for reading

Hi, New jobs were always overwhelming for me too. (((hugs))) but if I could find at least one person to help me until I learned everything it became tolerable. I hope you find such a person. Is it a job that you could enjoy once you got used to it? Going to school and working is a big load for anyone. Hang in there, like you said, the semester is almost over.

Sounds like you're doing a lot already. Comparing ourselves to normal people just makes us feel bad about ourselves. I always feel like I could never catch up to people my age.

So far, I do like the job. My managers are great. The semester is over on the 15th so not too much longer. Thank you for your response

I need to stop comparing myself to other people. It only hurts me. Thanks for your response
