They determined to work me 6 hours without a lunch despite law saying anything over 5 hours and 59 minutes requires a lunch. So I'm going report it to the government and they'll get fined $1000.

Also going tell them I can't work any more shifts over 5 hours.

I can't go 9-10 hours without eating food :(

Well really 11 hours

Have you thought of reporting it to human resources or the CEO of your company?

It's he doing it

On top of that it's super hot up there since they took our fan.

I'm only working to get out of the house but it's getting and more and more damaging to my well being with all this corporate changes to save money

We can't even clock in 5 minutes early anymore but are expected to be at our station on time. Clock is upstairs in break room. And morning meetings begins at same time we clock on.

Praying cooperate don't find out we have water bottles in my department. We're not suppose to but stores made exception since we can't leave our area and there's no fountain upstairs

So you're not allowed to have beverages? That doesn't sound right.

I had a job once at a bookstore that I really really liked. Then another company bought it out and changed everything. It became unpleasant and I left. It was disappointing. Since then I have realized that everything is in constant change and flux and that both the good and the bad are impermanent.

Do you think you can adjust to the changes in your work environment? Also, I don't think you should report them, I think you should talk to them and make them aware that it's a health issue for you.

It's asinine for your company to not allow water bottles for their employees.

Are you in the USA? That sounds illegal. It also sounds like they don't want to or can't fire you without repercussions and want your Dept to quit. I would your put your grievance in writing politely and intelligently and according to the law, submit to your boss even if its been said orally, and retain proof. If the situation doesn't improve within a week then contact OSHA or whoever can help.
Don't say you can't work over five hours going forward. That just gives them an excuse to cut your hours. Stick with what the law says- you need to eat after 5 hours and 59 minutes. Whether you need this job or not they have to treat you like a human being with rights.

They can't fire you for reporting them. If they did that you could file a lawsuit against them. They could fire you for not working enough hours though, as long as they gave you the breaks required by law.

I'm sure the official reason would be something else. Company lawyers arent stupid.

They work everyone part time, I work 4,5,6 hour shifts so I'm not sure how limiting it to 4,5 hour would be hurtful. They split the day into a 8 and 4 hour shift usually,

Work day is 8:45 am to 9:30 pm. There's 5 people in my area and one other who only works a 4 hour shift one day a week.

I would take a lunch break after 6 hours. f**k them, you're entitled to it.

Lunch has to be taken between 2nd and 5th hour of working and be no less then 30 minutes. 1 hour if working over 8 hours. Breaks are suppose to be every 2 hours.

Sometimes I end up working 3-4 hours before s break. Other times I just don't get one as they forget or can't get someone to cover.

There's a nice spreadsheet on the bottom that clearly defines the s**t times and meal/breaks required.

Whatever the case, take the lunch break when you're legally entitled to it.
