I maybe have not outlined that , in the room I am in , it is not a permanent room ~ And , in fact , a worker today underlined that it was conditional , " try-out " , room , to possibly get a better room later ~ The San Francisco Social Services people have a perceived feeling I was , briefly , messy in previous places in my earlier San Francisco years , I could get get kicked out ~
Neatness is seen as the/a problem , and , actually , a problem in my trying to be neat is my lack of stuff to store things/appear clean ~ And they do help in seeming clean , and getting them is hard for me , and , if I am in a temporary place , I would either have to throw them out or schlep them along somehow...if...I get that supposed " better " place . And , there's the getting them , too , and that would be for more " permanent " things , too .
Of course , there's the factor of " How do I pay for them ? " - But , even aside from that , there's being carless , and semi-(at the very least :( ) crippled , in downtown San Francisco - Nowadays , most " normal Americans " I guess get " housekeeping items " from big-box/chain stores in the highways/in suburbia , or online .
" All-/Middle American " big-box stores are rather thin on the ground in downtown San Francisco , and as for shopping online , I don't have a Mastercard/Visa credit or debit card or a post office box , either ~ The latter of which , I found out in Washington , would require considerable money up front to the PO for your first few/-ish months rent , and/or charging it on a card - Which I don't have . As I told you , too , the room does not have a noomal working plug in it .
I have tried looking for some kind of battery-operated clock radio ~ I can't find one .
Actually , too , in shopping , money aside , being crippled/-ish and having what I think is an Aspie-ish tendency to stay in a very small basic stomping ground a lot of the time - Seriously , horizontially from the Embarrcadero to the Castro and a couplish block up and down within that is , basically , so much of my stomping grounds...
Oh , and last week , I got banned for week from one of the computer labs which I mentioned before , I forgot to get this up before , it's easy to get banned there - :-( - This is aside from the Library's ban of me , which is still on , and which my worker seems to be offering no direct help with ~ And , it is even harder for me to get to use a phone than it is to use a computer !
I also tripped on the sidewalk to-day , falling down  . My computer time is up now :( .

You can go into any 99-cent type store and get a clock radio for about $9.99 or so.

I don't think that there are any 99 cent stores in downtown SF. His best option is probably Walgreens. I think that there may be a couple Rite Aid stores in downtown SF now. I remember buying stuff from the Woolworths in the basement of the Flood Building, when they closed in 1996 it left a big hole in the retail options of downtown residents.

...Factually speaking , I tried Walgreen's , of which there are umpteen in S.F. (no Rite Aids) , and there was none , and a dollar store...They , in fact , had a crappy clock-only that simply could not be set , it was a piece of trash , it couldn't be made to work at all !
Please let me make my point agin about getting around , if I get to a place and buy something , furthermore , getting back to the place with it ~ How ? Especially if it is of any mass .
How do I get back to the place with it ?
And , knowing where to look , and getting there , those are problems - Al;ong with the basic of money of course .

...The " Pride " was a reference , briefly , to the fact that I ended up not going to the San Francisco Gay Pride festival/" village " , quite near me , as I didn't have what I considered the minimum money needed for a decent afternoon :( . !

What about thrift stores? The Salvation Army? Some of them sell clock radios.
