Aspie as the provider
Hello everyone. Mostly I just need a safe place to rant a little out of brain because I've been having a rough go keeping myself together the 6 months or so.. Over a year I go I moved away from my cozy little home town and my wife and I finally had our own little spot in the world together and while the change and the transition to a new job and new town was Extremely trying for me I managed to power through it despite my massive desire to go back home... but I managed... for a while.. until our town's economy hit the toilet HARD! For the last 6 months or so my wife has been out of a job and has been searching desperately for anything but no one with give her the time of day and so all the support for our little unit has fallen onto me and I feel crushed by the burden... Some days I wonder how I can keep going while just barely being able to keep us afloat and try my damnedest to keep her moral and emotional state stable when I can barely keep myself sane... Especially hard when I cannot pick up on her subtle/non-verbal ques..
I feel like I am being crushed by the entire world and if I fail I've doomed us...

I'm sorry you are going through difficult times. I think many men in your situation often feel how you feel. It's important to remember though, even in the darkest of times, that life has it's ups and downs. I've been poor before, to the extent that I was sometimes without basic utilities, and sometimes you just have to accept that that's how things will be for a while. The most important thing is to remember that the most important support you can provide another person is moral and emotional support, not financial support. I'm not married, but if I found a man I liked enough to marry, and who liked me enough to marry me, and he was the primary wage earner, and we fell on financial hard times, at the end of the day, the most important thing to me would be that he was still there next to me. You might have heard that financial problems are one of the leading reasons for divorce, but they aren't. It's when one or both spouses withdraw emotional and moral support as a result of financial problems.
