I don't know what to do. I feel like my whole life is on a downward slope. I broke my foot at my old job and had to resign and now am unemployed. I did two interviews last week and didn't get either job. I had a great internship for dog grooming and suddenly, the guy that owned the salon decided that he didn't want an intern. He says it wasn't anything I did wrong, but I'm skeptical. If all that wasn't bad enough, I got in a car accident yesterday. I'm not really hurt, but I have scrapes and scratches and bruises all over my body. I just talked to the insurance company and my car is totaled. Now, I have no job, no internship, and no car. I feel like garbage.

Hi SilentOne,

I am very sorry to hear of your injuries and losses. It's very hard for you now, that's undeniable. And that said, I believe things can get better for you.

When I was about your age, I graduated with a teaching degree and then to the consternation of certain family members, announced that there was absolutely no way I was going to take a teaching job in a high school or middle school ... and I had to turn down a college teaching job because it was only part time and didn't pay enough.

Around the same time in my life (right after graduating), my car caught fire one day while I was driving it. Two strangers saved my life, the car was totaled.

Has life been a struggle since then? Yes, always has, and still is ... (might be an Aspie thing to some degree :) ) ... But there have been good times, too. Ups and downs.

Get well soon, SilentOne, and I hope you'll feel better soon! :D

Thank you for the kind words  I really appreciate it. I just found out yesterday night from the insurance company that they will give me enough money to get a new car. I've applied for a couple more jobs (including one that I can walk to) and school starts again in late August, so I have that to look forward to as well.

You should consider filing a worker's compensation claim. Rules vary widely by state and there are usually deadlines to meet. You can google it at How to file a workers compensation claim; add the name of your own state to the search to narrow the results.

May you get well and recover soon! :D
