Broken expensive lantern

I spent about 35 dollars on a lantern/fancy flashlight to try and improve the reading-light situation in my room - and , briefly , after a day or so it (twice) stopped working , even after moore money spent to put eight new batteries in it .
So forty-something dollars ?
Spent on something that does not work at all , now .
Whenever I try to " improve ' things it seems that they instead go downhill .

Just get a regular flashlight then. What the Brits call a "torch."

I used to survive on regular flashlights whenever I couldn't pay the electric bill.

...I don't know that they stand up much ~ or are very durable , or very easy to put together .

You can probably get a decent one for about $10-15 that would stand up. All you have to do is put the batteries in.

Don't you have a socket for plugging in a little lamp?

Even if you don't, this is a much better situation than being in a shelter or out on the street.

...I couh-cough-cough SO much ! !! !! !! !! !! And I get ENDLESS s**t for it . And I worry about my singing voice bein f****d up by the coughing ! !! !! !! !! !! I never really got my start on being a singer , which I wanted to be:-(.

Your singing voice is probably better than mine.

Mine is the type where people throw a boot at me if I would even think about singing.

Sometimes, a little frog in one's voice can actually have appeal. It makes it seem as if you've experienced life.

I have COPD too (hereditary kind).
A raspy singing voice isn't so bad.
The breathing required when you sing is actually really good for your lungs, if it's not too painful to do so.

...The excessive sunglare in the room and the " mercury/lead " ~ as well as what I admit may be some problems I have in keeping it clean (Remember , my difficulty in getting household things ~ both paying for them AND looking for them/getting to where they would be/getting them back ! )) have me feeling yechhy - This early , I really wanted to stay and sleep , but already there was a problem of not getting good enough sleep in the lliht , and I HAD TO come here to try to et in my little bit of Internet time otherwise I'd be mentally writing it all night ! !! !! !! !!

...The cheap AT&T Go-Phone has stopped working on the Internet to pick up YouTube (Practically all I used it for bar a clock and calling my brother and one WP friend) ~ I will try to see if I can get help at the AT&T store but........(Continued in my " Someone To sit beside me " post)

...I spent $115 DOLLARS (or so)(that I had " found under a leaf " in my Target account) to " improve " my cruddy room ~ give me " a little something to come home to " ~ And , as of now , they have f****d UP ENTIRE !

You can go to Ikea and get a reading lamp for a good price or also target and get a reading lamp that clasps to a book.

...First , there's essentially no plugs I can use in my room .
I've spoken of looking for battery-operated things .
Money is an angle , too , and even transportation - finding a store , getting there and (leaving paying for it to the side for now) getting back and setting it up .
I am car-less , crippled and live in the downtown/" inner " city , and " all-American/suburbia-type big box stores " are fairly scanty upon the ground .
