I came to this site to find fellow aspies that understood my issues. But i have found alot of people who happily beat a dead horse.

I guess I thought for all their faults aspies are more honest and try to be more understanding.

I can't be on a site that starts affecting my emotions in real life and makes my depression worse

Maybe you are talking to the wrong people, you cant judge everyone based on a few.

No, they are good people, really. But the topic evokes inevitable conflicts. I wish you're not affected too much. I believe you're strong.

When my mood and health was low I was very sensitive to the negativity here, and the few are quite noticeable, you are not imagining that.
I started to see them much like negative headlines in the news, emotive threads that will catch peoples attention. Sometimes its best to look after your well being and post in a lighter topic thread instead.

I see what you mean. I'm attending my grandfather's funeral tommorow which is why I may be more upset than usual.

Oh I am sorry to read that, this is a tough time for you. My condolences on your loss.

Death and grief impacts on everyone differently, breaks from the stress these experiences cause are important for your health, what are your interests, or hobbies that you can escape to?

I think turning to our fellow autistic/Aspergers people for help is always going to be a bit hit and miss. On the one hand: similar life experiences! Similar thought processes and worldview! Similar interests! On the other hand... put a bunch of people together who all have trouble with social skills, and the results ain't always pretty.

In any community, the loud, angry, dumb ones are the most visible. There's a strong concentration of them in the "politics" subforum, so I avoid it despite caring a lot about politics. Also, yikes! so many young men who are Angry At All Women!

It takes an effort to ignore them and find all the people we can actually have a reasonable conversation with. There are plenty of 'em, it's just that their visibilty is poor 'cos they're not posting ten times an hour in stupid flamewars. Worth it when it's good, but still, it's dismaying when it's bad. Maybe take a break for a couple of weeks?

I don't blame you for wanting to leave, since I feel the same way.

Most new threads seem to be re-hashed topics of previous threads, complete with the same old mouldy complaints and the same old convoluted rhetoric. It's as if members here are all marching to the same beat of a dead horse.

Our "fellow Aspies" are just as lost as we are, and most are even moreso.

I'm sorry about the loss of your grandfather.

I hope you don't leave.

Just use WP for your own purposes. You're going to hear crap here, just like hear crap all over the world.

It's sort of "pick and choose" sort of proposition with me--and I have that right! You do, too.

I'm sorry to hear this as I think you are genuinely a nice person and decent human being, I hope I haven't contributed to you coming to this conclusion and sincerely apologize if I have. A lot of people make these threads about leaving(quite a few recently), most don't but I imagine some do but I wouldn't respond unless I thought that member's contribution would be missed.

Hey, Alliekit, someone around here need their ass kicked? I got you covered if so...

You seem to enjoy your interactions here and shouldn't let one or two incidences deter you from that. Sometimes, it better to walk away than engage someone whom you think has an ignorant view. You generally can not fight ignorance with reason. I'm not qualifying anything this way myself, only speaking in generalities, but true ones. If someone pisses you off, stick to the people that don't.

But, nothing online should make you stressed in real life either. But, doesn't matter where you go, online or irl, you'll ALWAYS find an a**hole or 7.

I think you would be missed too much. What you add outweighs what those people take. Perhaps just take a break until real life mellows a bit?

The advice about ignoring the troublemakers was wise, too. It's certainly advice I need to take, as well. Ignore and they will go away. Problem solved :)
