diagnosis undone
Hello,
I came on here a few weeks ago talking about how I got my diagnosis. Well now it seems that is to change. I did not mention to the doctor that I was given a diagnosis for schizoid instead of autism. He told me that this is a problem because some "experts" have already diagnosed me. He has to give a good reason for why he thinks that I have autism. This has me a little worried. One, I do not want a diagnosis for schizoid either way because I believe that I do not have schizoid. I have researched it as much as possible and do not feel it is me in any way. Two, the doctor wants to speak to one or both of my parents. I don't want this. So, instead he has asked to see video footage of me as a child. Problem there being that my dad is not a great film maker. He would put the camera on and film whatever, this includes my mum having a meltdown. Most of this footage was shot in 82-85 so is old stuff. Not to mention that home movies of kids on youtube are made by parents who are aware of the difference.

These are the videos that I have uploaded, I have to send them to the doctor for him to watch. I was going to put them on dvd or usb but I am having a problem with doing that at the moment. So instead I put them on youtube.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks
Let me know what you think.
I think you were a cute kid! I only watched about four videos and jumped around a bit in them, but I didn't see anything that struck me as having much diagnostic validity.
Watching a lot of short YouTube videos that don't directly address the diagnosis is a waste of a doctor's time. If you want to go this route though, give a "time stamp" (like, 2:16) to help the doctor jump right to the section that shows something of interest, such as a meltdown, not sharing a toy, stimming, etc.
Why don't you want your parents involved? I ask that not as a challenge or criticism, but more to explore the dynamics you are dealing with.

My dad doesn't remember much of me when I was a child. I spoke to him the other day about the diagnosis attempt he came to in 2008. He couldn't remember any of it. I don't want to bring my mum because she has a tendency to start making things about her. She also has a tendency to use what ever she can get hold of against me. I worry about telling her anything. My family wouldn't help much, that is my opinion.
There is one thing in the video that makes me think I have aspergers or mild autism.
In this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkNEMm0gz5Y
I was not engaging in play with my mother or even acknowledging her. At 1:14 my dad starts to talk to me and I completely ignore him. They repeated my name with no response. This has been explained in a video on youtube. An autistic child will not engage with others or look for "approval/prompting" from a parent. The blank response that I give.
I'm not an expert, and it's hard to tell since the clips are too short to get a baseline impression. But in the 'first'-video I did notice: not sharing toys with mom, not responding to "look at the camera".
The other videos looks pretty ordinary to me.
Edit: interesting, you've made the same observation as me. I wrote my reply 1 hour ago and just hit submit after dinner.
In addition the autism-specific traits BeaArthur mentioned, there's also the difference in social interaction

i dont believe i have schzoid, what do you mean about me writing something about the video and then you writing it.
i noticed that behaviour some time ago which is why i chose it.
i want to talk to people, i want to be normal. i have problems with social interaction. i dont have the skills required to get on with people. i cant laugh at jokes or share thoughts. i talk at people. i talk about facts instead of BS.
i dont agree with me having schizoid.
I'm not questioning wether it's schizoid or autism.
What I ment was that I made the same observation from the video, that you also made, before I read your reply to it.
The one video clip you highligted was the only one that that made me recognize the autistic traits i children that im aware of
