I only feel safe when I'm in the corner. I always sit in the same corner in lectures, I stand in corners all the time. I feel safe in my bed because I have a wall behind me and a wall next to me. I like that. I would feel trapped if I was surrounded by three or four walls but I like two.
Why do I like corners so much?
Does it matter that I only feel safe in corners?
Should I try to stop being in corners so much?
Or does everyone like corners really? :?

I love corners. Fun to take (driving), plus you don't have to keep an eye on your back.

Well, I'd hope you would feel trapped with four walls around you. :P

I prefer sitting closer to doors and towards the back of the classroom, both if I can manage. Being in the corner isn't necessary, but if I can sit on the end of the last row of desks and have one of the doors behind me (and the other at the front of the class) I'm definitely happier.

I like to sit near a window. In a corner, maybe I wouldn't feel trapped, but it wouldn't be my favorite place either.

It took me a long time to understand this in myself.

I prefer booths to tables at restaurants and sit with my back to the wall in almost any public space. The exception is stadium seating with steeply raked floors like most movie theaters.

I realized that I am acutely aware of "stuff" happening behind me, whether from sound, air pressure changes, or reflections in the lenses of my glasses. This is a constant distraction and annoyance. I can minimize it by minimizing the space behind me. In arena seating, I'm usually aware of one row of seats behind me, and in other settings, I'm next to the wall.

I don't know if it's exactly the same for you, but that's why I do that.

Corners are good, because I can see everything in front of me and have the peace of mind that nothing but a wall is behind me.

That's exactly the same as me. It means I can only concentrate in lectures if I'm sat right at the back as well.

I can handle sitting in the front of a lecture.
But I kind of tune whatever's behind me out.
Pretty much the same that I do on stage.

Corners are safe, you can observe everything in front of you without fear of attack from behind. :) Ones with low windows are even better, so you can gaze out and, if its a ground floor you will have a escape route close by!

At school, I always sat in the back corner, but for a different reason. I just didn't want the teachers to see that I was usually reading or drawing in class. At University I prefer sitting in the front, because I don't hear everything the prof says when there's too much background noise.

I noticed I sit in corners in almost all of my classes. It's just habit to not be surrounded by people on all sides, I guess. It's less threatening to know there is at least one side that is unchanging vs. constant movement on all sides.

I am very much a corner person. Even in cafes, I like to have walls by me. My bed is in a corner too tho I am currently sleeping on the floor.

I don't think I could sleep properly if my bed wasn't in the corner.

Corners are too confined. I prefer to hide in plain sight.
