I have been having these episodes of extreme pain and vomiting. 4am I went the ER for the 3rd time and they figured out why. My Ulcerative Colitis has gotten so bad my colon is swollen shut from inflammation and nothing can get into it. My small intestine is getting clogged up and spasming trying to push though.

They have got me on bowel rest (no food or water) and steroids and are hoping it opens or I will need it removed. The surgeon said even if I escape it this time, it's pretty much inevitable given my history and severity of my disease. :( I kinda knew that already, it's just now we are talking about the elephant in the room.

I had an Autism moment already. The sponges they gave me to wet my mouth reeeeally set off my sensory issues. :( I hope I can convince them to let me just swish water and spit it out.

Im sorry you're in so much pain.

My pain is being controlled. Yes, I have tv. Cable even, which I don't have have at home. I've had lots of visitors. I've also got WiFi and adult coloring books.

Wow that's really awful... I'm so sorry to hear that. That's so sh***y to have such a bad medical condition so young... At least you have people who care to come visit you.

I've been graduated to clear liquids. I'm having some....output, which is good. I'm anemic, but so far I'm staying above transfusion level. Barely.

My old Jr high nurse is here supervising medical students as part of her current position. We were very happy to see each other and and it's good to have someone with a personal interest in my care.

My immediate prognosis is much better, but my long term is getting worse. My Dr basically said start hunting for good surgeons before I need emergency surgery and don't get a choice. He's been aggressively pushing for surgery this whole time and I don't like his attitude. I'll definitely be seeking other opinions once I get released.

Beakybird, I got diagnosed when I was 8. *That's* young.

You're making good progress.

My mother happens to have Ulcerative Colitis. She has resisted surgery.

Have you ever heard of something called Entyvio? It's helped my mother quite a bit.

I hope your feeling better soon! Is the surgery quiet extreme?

@ kraftiekortie Funny you mention Entivio. I'm literally waiting for it to be set up and scheduled. Have been since last week. That's just one tiny reason I'm not rushing to surgery. By the time I could find a surgeon, get in for a consult, then schedule a surgery, I could have multiple infusions in me. And that's assuming I like the first Dr I see.

@Alliekit, yes, yes it is.
________

A moment of humor to break the heavy. I got the wrong set of silverware with my clear liquid tray. I tried eating the jello with knife and fork, but it just didn't work out so well. I went back to the spoon. :P

In the US, surgery is just an operation in an "operating room" or "OR."

In the UK, a "surgery" is a regular doctor's office. People "undergo surgery" in an "operating theatre."

People are "in the hospital" in the US.

People are "in hospital" in the UK.

People are in "satisfactory condition" in the US.

People are "in a satisfactory condition" in the UK.

Am I right, Alliekit?
