Gradual desensitisation can sometimes help if you feel anxiety in particular settings. If this makes no sense to you, I can give you an example from my life. I had a longstanding anxiety about being anywhere near snakes (because of a horrible movie scene I saw as a child, which traumatised me).

I lived in Germany for a while and did not know at first that pet shops there could legally display and sell live snakes. We rented an apartment right next door to a pet shop. Imagine my shock when I glanced in the window and saw snakes staring back at me. I sped away. Over time, I began to pause as I passed by. Then I began to stand at the window and study them, because the exposure was gradually desensitising my fear and replacing it with interest. The owner came out one day and said I was always welcome to call in and watch him help the snakes shed their skins, or hold one if I wanted to. I did go in and stood right beside them, without a barrier, without anxiety by then, which was pretty astonishing to me. I never felt anxious about snakes again, not even when I suddenly encountered a live wild snake in Texas later on.

Have you tried guided imagery, yoga, meditation, exercise? All of those can be quite effective at helping lessen the effects of anxiety.

Marijuana made me more anxious so I had to quit but I have read that it may help some folks. (The synthetic ones are dangerous).

Exercise in any amount -- even in bed-- helps my anxiety. Caution not to overdo it.

Hi I have had a mini breakthrough with acupunture.after 2 sessions it is really helping with anxiety and depression.always had to be careful with weed...that can make me feel like I am going quite mad. Excercise is brilliant but I have developed a dodgy knee after jogging.
So yeah iron really is worth trying the acupunture.

Sadly for me, the way for me to take care of my anxiety and to keep it away is to avoid any surprises and anything from going wrong and people listening to me and not messing with my stuff and me being in control of my environment. Sadly this isn't always the answer because s**t happens and people won't always understand so I suffer in silence but then I am anxious and I take it out on others and it's hard for me to control that part. It affects my functioning.

I have no idea if I ever did CBT and talk therapy never cured my anxiety but it helped talking to someone. Anxiety pills never made my anxiety go away either, it just helped me deal with things better than getting anxious when I am not in control.

Try acupuncture it really works on all sorts of levels.i am seeing a psychologist on Friday so will
Let you know if that helps.for me talking about things can make it worse cos it brings everything up and I dwell on it obsessively.they may come up with some interesting ideas so will give it a good try.BTW loved your quilt of labels...I thought was a great way to describe things...made me smile. X
