Hi:
I had a birthday party last night and I had some friends come over who wanted to be here along with one co-worker and their significant other, and another couple and their son with autism. I had also invited a big group of people and like always, a majority of them ignored the invitation or said no. Yet, they have time for everyone else when they get invited to a big party.

I was talking to two of my friends last night about this and they have also had the same experiences. They feel that these people don't make time for us because we are weird and don't feel comfortable around us so they don't attend.

I just don't get it because I have made time in trying to reach out and attend their things and everything but when I try to reciprocate, they refuse.

Anyone else on here experience this?

That's pretty common I'm afraid. If you ignore people and do your own thing, they make a big deal about you not "making an effort" socially. If you do make an effort, they suddenly find somewhere else they need to be.

Oh well  Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good time :)

I just don't understand the nature of these people.
