Having a hard time with "empty nest syndrome" so I went to therapy. This particular individual treats patients after they've had an evaluation by the staff psychiatrist. This gent claims I am suffering from borderline personality disorder and didn't detect any symptoms of AS. I'm so confused. I'm 56 years old and was under the impression that I was on the Asperger's spectrum for the last 26 years. I asked about comorbidity. He said, "No". I feel lost and very depressed.
Absolutely emptied. I believe the diagnosis, this time, is accurate. That's why there were so many blanks to be filled in with regards to the symptoms of Asperger's. I'm stunned. Now, I know where my son gets his Asperger's traits - from his father. My husband is on the spectrum. That's how he is able to tolerate me all these years. It's a little more than just plain love. He can't tell that I'm actually nuts. He can't tell. This tells me that I should be an even better wife to him because he is, in a sense, just as sick as I am. I love him more than ever now. :D

So, this particular individual is subordinate to the psychiatrist? I would contact the psychiatrist to confirm and describe your disagnoses with you.

I'm sorry. I think I may have BPD too and it's really just a terrible diagnosis. I'm afraid to even look into it. I don't want to know that. How does one even treat that? But you are right. The people that put up with us are just saints.
