I don't understand the first part about ponies.
What naturalplastic is saying is that even if the thing you're scared about goes away, it's likely that you would then find something else to worry about. I understand because what he's describing is how I am sometimes.

Anyway, I do have medications and I do see a counselor/psychologist. I just don't know what to say, I'm kind of cornered about it. I guess what she wants me to do is forget about it and accept that I can't control some things, but this is so different now.
Your counselor/psychologist is right ... it would be really good if you could learn to accept that you can't control some things.

Does anyone realize how scary an attack on a national grid and important infrastructure sounds?
As a matter of fact yes, on three levels.
One, I've been a technical writer for many years.
Two, I used to follow a doomsday blog that described a scenario involving the grid going down, etc. The blog even talked about North Korea. I could go into vast amounts of detail, but it might be triggering.
Three, I have in fact done a bit of prepping based on the doomsday blog. And then it hit me one day. That yes, I had extra food, water, and supplies stocked up in my apartment. But ... what if an EMP attack or other disaster occurred while I was miles away, at work? Then I might have no way to get back to my apartment. So I decided that since there was nothing I could do about it, it didn't make sense to worry about it.
