There will be times in your life that you will go through an emergency and need an extreme amount of money. Do not waste your money on new gadgets, games, or toys. SAVE and I mean save. The more money you save the more prepared you are for emergencies.

People keep telling me to throw all my money into a car that’ll break down and be sold for 1/20th what I paid

Yeah, people need to save money in case there's an emergency, but personally I think it's also important to do things you like in order to enjoy life and that often takes money.

That's why I think that once you've paid for food and other things you need in order to live, put some money to your savings. Not all, and use the remaining money to do something you like/save it for something you like.

Agrees.

Almost the same for me. I've been getting by on extremely low expenses in order to save as much as possible, and now that I have a big sum saved up, people keep telling me to start spending it. I should get a driver's licence or new shoes or eat fancy food every once in a while, or whatever people think is a good reason to throw away hard earned money. I don't get it. Just because I saved up the money, doesn't mean I can just start spending it right to left.

No one suggested any such thing. People are engaging you in conversation and suggesting that having a car again isn't an unreasonable goal to strive towards achieving.

I save money, but I also like to enjoy my life.

You CAN do both.

lol it was me, I confess. I only meant if you wanted or needed a car though, not if you don't. I don't have a car myself, total wast of money :D

I'm a natural saver, in fact I'm stingy as s**t :D And that has got me out of some difficulties but it does get me a lot of criticism.

It’s not you. Others do it including a guy I know locally. For low income people cars are waste of money. Bus works fine just takes longer. But I don’t have a life anyways and I’m not in rush to get places like others are.

I’m putting some of my savings into stuff that can be turned back into money but I can’t just spend quickly. That way I can’t spend it. I’d have to go somewhere and sell it first.

I don’t spend my money on stupid stuff. Like say liquor, cigarettes, expensive food etc, when I do it’s on stuff that be around forever or a long time. So I too get criticism. That guy for example was jealous I was able to buy a gun but he can’t cause his money goes into his nice car. That was over year and half ago. I got the gun half off. I have about 2,000 in savings. $400 set for long term. I need to put more into that. My only way of saving is via my taxe return. I try not to spend it. I recently finally spent my 2015 taxe return .

I liked driving. Mostly Id get anxiety from people almost hitting me. It’s just not logical for me to have a car. Bus makes more sense for someone in my situation. Maybe eventually a bike if I get in shape.

It’s been suggested I take all my savings and buy a car. That give me a lot of anxiety. I don’t even spend a lot of my savings on things I want. What if something happen? What if our fridge broke or an animal get hurt. What if I lost my house. No no. I try to only spend the money I make from work after bills. I did finally spend my remaining 2015 taxe and may spend a $100 or so from my 2016 return to get something I want and to renew my driver license.

Good moves, sly. 8) It’s good to have savings vs nothing to fall back on! Even better is to save even more whenever your income rises vs spend it. Everyone knows this but very few ppl do it. Even with my business school education I wasn’t able to do it while my asd symptoms were strong. It was weird and very frustrating. But now that my brain functions better I’ve become a saver, big time, and I never ever want to be the opposite again.

Having a bike would get you in shape, no?

I had $10,000 from child support saved up in a bank that I spent all on camera equipment. Now I'm being told it is smart to be frivolous so that you live a happy life. I owe my college $8,390 and if it isn't paid in a week's time I'm evicted. College tuition is very expensive. The times I was working I could have saved that money for paying for college classes. The college classes are costing hundreds of dollars and my grandparents and the government are struggling to pay for it, because I'm struggling in the classes.

Had I saved that $10,000 and that $2,000 from work I would have enough money to support myself in case I was failing classes in college.

Surely this isn’t the first time you’ve been made aware that you owe $8,390.00 of it means you’re being evicted without payment in a week’s time.. pretty sure there’s more to this story than you’ve disclosed so far.
