There some people here who won’t leave me alone no matter how much I ask. It’s deeply upsetting me  to the point I’m starting to just hate them.

I don’t need people to point out my life is crap and how I just need to be normal and do normal people stuff, I can’t I can’t I can’t I’m not normal.

Well you can just ignore the posts made by those people, right? Check the sender first and if that person is on your "black list" then don't read the post.

Really just one person mainly. I was upset and jumped to conclusions on the other :(

I try but they write long posts thst I have to scroll over and I’ll catch a bit of their post and then be sucked in. On other forums I’d block them and their posts wouldn’t even show up. I have ocd from aspergers so it’s hard for me to not read something when I start it. Same with scary movies I hate them but if I see one I have to watch it to th end.

I feel bad now for this thread.

Someone also had told me the exact same thing through a PM about how I can't make any friends and live a good life unless I keep my mouth shut about my "weirdness" and be normal. Blocking really doesn't do much of anything. You can still see people's posts and they can still send you PMs. But I guess you could just delete them and not open the messages... Though, it's definitely hard to do for some, including myself who wants to look at the crud people send me when I receive the notification. I resorted to just disabling PM messaging all together which...may not be something you want to do.

"Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators."

^ Like really? There is no point in even having something like this outside from having a list of people who you know gives you trouble. Ignoring doesn't even do anything useful unless you're on the "Post A Reply" screen which even then it's pretty pointless. I wish something was done better about it.

I hope the best for you. :c

I'd love to have a block to stop seeing posts from the PPR forum. Or everyone in it.

Sly, Maria: There are "rules" accessible through your profile... you can, actually, set a rule that autodeletes any incoming PM from someone on your Foes list.

I don't know if that means it never hits your inbox at all, or if it is deleted once you go to the PM menu but before you can open it.

If you're at all "field-dependent" maybe you can try keeping your eyes on the name/avatar column only and scroll down past the text, until the next poster's name comes up. Won't work for everyone - I'm very field-dependent so it does help me.

*field-dependent = if information is split up into boxes or columns, you may not see all of it unless you make a deliberate effort. Your "default" is to focus on one box or column or row, and you don't "see" some of the others, because of the outlines around them, or how they are arranged on the page. That's a fast and cheap definition of the particular type that I have. If it helps, yay :-) if not, ignore.

I wonder if this function ever worked ? I just added everyone in this thread as a foe to see what would happen. Like you said it only works when you 'post a reply'

Edit: All un-foed now

I'm not sure that an echo chamber is healthy either overall. It certainly feels better, but look how things have become when one side ignores opposing views on other platforms. How can anyone stay objective if you simply ignore others with differing opinions even exist.

It depends. Personally I don't like to reply to certain threads with my opinions on subjects because they will more than likely start up unnecessary drama or set me up for some offensive replies back which I can't handle that well. It makes me prone to hurting myself, crying and other such things when someone states something very negative against my sexual interests and beliefs. It triggers all the memories of the bullying I had dealt with back in high school and still to this day.

I honestly don't like ignoring that much on other sites because it makes conversations very disjointed and hard to follow.

But in cases when someone is sending me messages and comments about how I'm wrong and need to get my brain checked out because I'm in love with a fictional character or something are things I rather not see. That's something I absolutely do not want to have a debate about.

I'm too defensive of a person to share opinions back 'n forth with someone over things that I have a personal connection with. I've let myself go sometimes and be open a little more about my thoughts and feelings on certain occasion because but it's still playing with fire for me.

it goes beyond differences in opinion, some folk are defiantly cruel and know just how far to push people. suspensions/temporary bans don't persuade these people to let up on the mean. again, if FB can do this, then WP should be able to as well. WP is supposed to be a refuge from the outer world.
