Why not take it as more of, perhaps there aren't only conservative christians and republicans within the vicinity of where you live. Sure that girl appeared to be taken....but maybe she is not the only geek girl in the entire vicinity. I mean you've had the same job for quite a while, sounds like you have a vehicle, you have some interests and even an idea of the sort of woman you like, so you have some things going for you. The worst part of your physical situation seems to be still living at home, and not having full control over your money but a lot of people in that situation don't have a job or a vehicle. The longest I can usually keep a job is a couple months.
I think your biggest problem now is self loathing. You have to start seeing value in yourself or you'll never feel like you're good enough...which will just feed the perpetual cycle. So it may be a good idea to work towards that...and you've gotta stop attaching that value to whether you have a girlfriend or not. You don't have a girl-friend now, that has nothing to do with your value as a person and doesn't mean you can never find anyone.
I know even some topics on this forum and such perpetuate the idea that if you're male and not in a relationship you're a complete utter failure/waste of time...but that's a bunch of B.S.
I will admit my area isn't entirely devoid of geekiness. There used to be a comic book shop until 2013, the shopping mall has a store with not only video games and DVDs but toys and comic books as well and it's always had an arcade of sorts, there are two cinemas in the area, and there's a bowling alley as well. It's just that the redneck/ghetto sports bars, football fields, and churches.
I do have a vehicle and I would be happy with either a geeky or gothic or some sort of alternative girlfriend. She can be of average build or chubby (I am overweight myself); just as long as she's decently attractive, I will be happy.
My therapist thought my mental programming comes from how my parents have had multiple marriages and my older brother had a lot of girlfriends.
