Am I " damaged " in ways I don't tend to think about? I mean, (1) I'M n Aspire/AS, it's a handicap, most of us will agree at least to a certain extent, there - I'm pretty OCD, as well, I guess :( , though I''ve never been DX'd.
Regarding the things I speak of in the last part of my signature...do you think I was somewhat messed up by them?
They might be seen as " valid " things to complain about, things you're " allowed " to feel down about - However, some people will still be in favor of "antipsychotic meds ", and I think some will say " The only trouble with the meds is that you didn't take ENOUGH of them!! !! ! ", or, at best, 'Well, the problem was you didn't take the right combination of pills! Just take THIS combination and everything will be right! Or, if not that, we'll try THAT combination! " :(
I really was periodically in situations where I was forced to take those meds, well into my 30s  .

I couldn't say. I don't even know what they were forcing you to take the medication for. The only two things about you that catch my attention as points to be improved upon is your failure to consistently comply with medical advice and facility rules concerning your current health conditions, and your tendency to turn on people who have made efforts to help you. When one solicit help and someone answers that call and does the best they can on their end, I think they deserve some gratitude even if your goal was not accomplished.

Other than that, you are still alive despite the adversity you have faced in life, and I think that demonstrates you are a strong person.

...I am inclined to think that some people seem to turn on ME. As for " not showing sufficient gratitude ", what do you mean? People can define " trying to help you " somewhat differently, too.

Certainly that's probably the case in some situations. You've been on this planet for roughly 60 years. I'm sure you have encountered your share of negative experiences. In addition to that, when people aren't able to meet your expectations or work with you, it can feel like they are making things intentionally difficult or that they have failed you or turned on you.

But I'm thinking of that instance where someone had tried to help you get your high school records, and perhaps I misinterpreted your sentiments as we are communicating via text, however my impression was that you felt the individual had a responsibility to you they didn't meet, even though that individual said he needed information that you hadn't rendered. I'm not bringing it up as an attack. I'm just bringing it up because I think it scares people away from helping you. I would be less inclined to try to help someone if I think they are going to get mad at me if I fail.

Doesn't change my answer. Would you prefer I elaborate?

You rant and rave against all sorts of people, medical professionals, outreach workers. You have violent revenge fantasies. You can't hold a focused train of thought through an entire post most of the time. You're obsessed with things you never got to do in the past & aren't likely to do in the future. You self sabotage your health against medical advice.. over and over again, and it's resulted in amputations and hospital stays - and surprisingly, not in death, yet. I could go on, but I think that's sufficient to support my answer. Whether it's due to innate disabilities or years of pharmaceuticals, you are in fact "messed up," as you call it.

that was a bit harsh. i dont know your life story ASS-P but it sounds like you've been through a lot and are looking for some comforting words? I'm not sure what i can say that might make you feel better but i hope the intention to do so comes through. as for meds - i personally dont trust them and never took them (ok, maybe once). it doesn't sound right that you are being forced to take them!

It's not harsh. I'm not being judgemental. It simply is what it is and I only know these things to be facts about ASS-P because he's shared all of these details here on WP. Collectively, all of this combined equates to an affirmative, "Yes," to his question of, "Am I messed up?"

I would be lying if I said, "No, through the hand you were dealt and the choices you've made, you're perfectly normal and doing just fine in society."

...You forgot to mention that I didn't worship a f*****g pair of dimestore gloves sufficiently to suit you!
Oh, and I didn't bow and salaam to you over a post where you said you thought of contacting me but didn't, years later!

i think he wanted to know if he was weird in relations to the things he experienced. i think anyone going through mental or physical abuse would be pretty messed up by it. so that makes it normal - a normal human reaction to bad s**t happening to you.

Yeah, you're right. I could have included something about how you're very difficult to help because you refuse the help you need or are so wasteful with resources given to you that it's challenging for others to want to spend their time/money/energy on assisting you when you've shown time and time again that you don't appreciate it and it's all for naught. You're right, that does in fact help qualify someone as "messed up," but I feel like my elaboration was sufficient enough to justify my concise response of, "Yes."

goldfish: There is truth, and then there is kindness. Sometimes, when truth will not be helpful, kindness is a better choice. When truth will be hurtful, resulting in no beneficial outcome, walking away is also supportable.

So then why ask the question on a forum full of literal, honest-to-a-fault, people if you don’t want an answer from them? :?

I'm not addressing the OP's behavior. I'm addressing your behavior.
