Autism stereotypes media and stigma
I am absolutely so in shock and misery after witnessing media and stereotypes picked up over the years. Recently a young comedian girl was murdered and raped by 19 year old autistic and troubled youth guy in Melbourne. In my networks it exploded news and comments judging men stereotypes of violence against women. I am absolutely in agreement of their views, but it really hard for them to see that not all Autistic males are stalkers, creepers, rapists, murderers and that against women.
This is absolutely hard world living in world full of bias and stigma.
NOT EVERY AUTISTIC MALES are like 'them'! Now after I said my perspective using with conflict negotiation assertive skills I portrayed I still get those women in my networks upset. This blatant stereotype of men are solely responsible of violence against women. This happening every single day around the world. Of course the problem needed to be addressed and solve, but it so difficult to blend into this world of their reality because media kept using Autism as breeding grounds of hate from women groups.
THIS IS MY LIFE facing consequences and failure because I have been accused by many women as being stalker, creepy and rapists while I have done nothing. Geeze I wish everybody need to stop doing their s**t because it not the reality.
I love women. In my heart I NEVER ever do bad things to them. It so difficult for them to trust me, even someone who is known to me for 5 years. This blurriness of media and society bias is screwing everyone minds up.
Gosh! Why it bloody hard to be autistic male in this world!? It so hard to make friends even when I am being myself, optimistic, positive and hard working person! Why social and healthy wellbeing connection lifestyle is such a burden. Why people hates me to be part of their social world?!
I have been virtually everywhere like thousands of community events over past years. I am 27 and still struggling as being innocent. Why I am getting attacked without me doing anything? Why people hate Autism?
I tried to make friends with other autistic, and deaf people here in Brisbane. They don't like me and never make time to be my friend. Now heading into 30s in couple of years time life will get much harder because I have no girlfriend/wife to have company with for future family. Going to be severely lonely due to lack of social privileges nor acceptance. It hurts my feelings so much more.
After while I decided not to look for girlfriends and new friends it still hurts me because it everyday typical life of burden living with autism as a male due to high level of stigma and stereotypes where people are terrible insecure and attacking me. Where the hell the escape of this nasty cruelist war torn society!?
Its unfortunate that people are so stupid. The only advice that I can give you is let them be stupid. Dont let it bother you just acknowledge that they are stupid and move on. Yes I have faced judgemental neurotypicals before. It used to bother me more then it does now. Now I just acknowlege how dumb they are and move on.
Also, know that not all people are judgemental. Just most of them are.
It is indeed true. Of course I know there aren't stupid people too, but their reactions are similar because they are not investing enough time to learn about me. I find the stigma of being Autistic male is HUGE in this media influenced society.
Here in Australia there are lot of Autistic females being in media, as popular role models doing successful things while the males are not getting much attention. I have a feeling it got to do with poor media statement in relating to Autistic males are being murderers, rapists and stalkers to women in general. This is stigmatising effect.
While females deemed to be not believed are on the spectrum due to diagnosis bias but their gender role benefits a lot as making friends and populism due to their Neurodiverse identities which greatly expands their opportunities. Many females I knew who are also queer/lesbians have so many friends and are in huge networks. In comparison I have came across to a gay Autistic male, they never get same level of experience to a lesbian female.
In NT world many females disagreed with this because media kept portraying females are not inclusive due to white haired male dominant society. Of course this is true as well as I seen in politics, board members and CEOS etc, but coming from other perspective in social world it more important than putting themselves out there due to their identity.
Hell lot of Autistic females are married, are mothers and have boyfriends quicker and earlier than males. In the NT world its a same for females as well but when coming to Autistic male its true in social acceptance and exposure opportunities.
So is it true that Autistic communities around the world are too focused on females due to their privileges in social environments so they believe they make themselves more successful? After reading few WP threads I seen lot of Autistic males who are married are actually older than 30, who are diagnosed later in their lives. Many are single and left behind who are diagnosed earlier in their lives.
