Feeling depressed lately
Hey. The Haven is supposed to be a safe place. This is a double infraction - creating a taunting thread, in a place of sanctuary.
Not. Acceptable.

It looks like I need some text after all. I was avoiding engagement in any discussion to keep my promise of getting around to the conversations I left hanging months ago first. I also thought the least I pestered hypothetical readers with my miseries, the better, so the ideal amount of text was zero. Unfortunately, the site wouldn't let me keep the post completely empty.
It was inspired by its title, and that's all it has to do with it. I hadn't even read the post yet. I'm not sure what counts as depressed, but I've often been described that way in the past when I felt like I do now. Please regard this thread as being entirely about me, not Joe90.
It's not supposed to be. The truth hurts.
Spiderpig is on LoneLoyalWolf's radar now and should be scared s**tless thread
Maybe. I used to be genuinely scared when people got angry with me online, but I'm too desensitized at this point. I'm more afraid now of the regularity with which I fail to anticipate ways in which I'll overstep people's boundaries or trigger protective instincts, always ending up as the bad guy, both here and in real life. Isn't it ironic that I tried to anticipate in my poll the likely reäctions of total strangers to my woes, yet I didn't think of outright, active hostility as one of them?
I used to hate them, too, for the selfish and immature reason that they usually targeted me. But now that I know a tiny bit more about how the world works, I can't bring myself to hate them anymore. Bullying behavior is universal in social animals, and it wouldn't have evolved without a good reason. Any group needs mechanisms to get rid of weak would-be members, or it will itself perish against a stronger group. That's why any ostensible efforts to eradicate bullying in schools or elsewhere are doomed to fail from the beginning: it's far too deeply ingrained in our nature, and it will always be. Bullies will keep coming up with smart ways to bend the rules, earn the public's sympathy and frame their victims as the bad guys, and authority figures will continue to look the other way, to an extent it doesn't happen with anything people truly regard, deep down, as a crime.
The Spartans openly encouraged school bullying. You know, it builds character—among those who survive it, at least. Our ultimate law as living beings is the law of the jungle, and according to this law, the only crime is weakness.
It doesn't look very safe for me now, does it? You could argue it's supposed to be safe for everyone but bullies, which is fine and dandy till someone decides you're a bully.
Not. Acceptable.
Except I'm not taunting anyone. I probably should have expected my poll to come across that way with its timing, but I didn't. You know, a typical autistic faux pas, of the kind that get us hated and bullied all the time.

Glad I saw your reply. Sorry I piled on, I've certainly been misunderstood too in my time.
I do apologize.

I will always defend the weak, those that can't or find it hard to defend themselves. Do not care about the view of the world, only care about what my heart tells me and feels is the right thing to do. Have stopped bullies in their tracks all my life. If I wouldn't have been there, some people would have had it pretty rough. Accepting society the way it is, that is accepting failure. I am not a sheep because I don't follow the herd; I am a Wolf.
My apologies for the misunderstanding.
Good for Joe90 that this is resolved.
Still find the poll options rather awful.
