I’m extremely nervous in meeting with my pen pal from Ukraine. We’ve been exchanging mails for about half a year now and for the first time, we’ll be seeing each other in person. But I have neither experience with either from here nor Ukraine women. So, I’m afraid I might scare her off when we finally meet. What do I do? Or what do people usually on first encounter? Need suggestions please!

Is this a romantic penpalship? Do you want to turn it romantic?

The answer makes all the difference in what you might wanna do.

Just act natural. Be yourself. Relax.

I am not sure... she's great and all. I just want things to go naturally and if things get romantic then great, if not... I'm more than happy to have her as a friend.

Enjoy Kiev. Lots of great stuff there.

And...be yourself.

And if she asks you to marry her, run for the hills!

Like KK said, I'd be sensitive to the fact that many Eastern European women are looking for marriage to a Westerner, as a route to a better life. This is a stereotype that is unfair to many, I'm sure. But if she seems too eager to couple with you, then I'd worry a little bit.

Other than that, just relax, be yourself, and keep an open mind.

Wow, brave thing to do!

Good luck and just be careful, don't fall for any scam. Don't give her any money, don't marry her you know things like that. Just be yourself.

Why go there? Unless you've got real ties to there, why?

I wouldn’t go. Kiev is meant to be OK and cheap but he doesn’t have a clue who he is meeting.

That’s true. There’s always a little risk involved.

I wish I could go there, though.
