sly, I think part of your anxiety is related to getting caught up in a messy discussion in Love and Dating. Now people are mad at you and you don't understand why.

I would advise not visiting that subforum. You have some views about people that are distorted, in my view, and part of the reason that they are distorted is the company you keep. A few very nasty, misogynistic people manage to dominate that subforum.

Always keep to people who send more positivity your way than negativity.

How is your job search coming - didn't you say your position is being laid off?

We don’t know anything
They priced everything down and said won’t get more stuff now apparently yesterday we got bunch of stuff from corporate.
All my managers know is at some point it’s going away from now to end if August. Corporate isn’t telling.

Hr lady was in for day and I got to talk to her she doesn’t know but said she’ll try to find position for me

I feel bad for other coworker as he’ll be waiting for me but I can’t handl all the above anxiety on top of freaking out waiting to be banned
I’m shaking panicking and feel like I’m going cry
I can’t handl more
I was literally 5 mins from work

Chronos has never liked me I’m not a feminist nor do I bend to their ideas

I thought you liked me once but i dont know maybe I’m mistaking you with someone else

I don't like that you twist my words in a way that not only mischaracterizes me in a negative light, but completely oppositely characterizes me, and that you have continued to do so despite my friendly gestures towards you.

Why you do such things, I don't really have an idea and if I offered one it would only be speculation on my part. However I have never advocated for you to be banned and if you are banned, it would have nothing to do with me.

To begin with, I like you. :D So do others but the panic is keeping you apart.

I used to be in exactly, almost word for word, situation as you re work.

Here's what I should have done: go to boss and say, "If there are layoffs, I'd like that for myself."
My coworker did that and automatically went on unemployment payments and kept the respect, instead of being fired.
I didn't do that and got fired, which is lousy when you are job-hunting.

I thought I should write this down; hope I don't sound harsh. But would you consider letting go of the job in that way? Being laid off can be a big improvement and leaves your future open while you recover.

Please tell me what you think of this.

That's true. If he got laid off, then it would look better on his record than if he was fired.

Both get unemployment benefits.

If Sly would quit, then he would be ineligible for unemployment benefits.

Be careful comparing layoff rules between Canada (Claradoon) and US (sly). The laws are completely different.

Sly, I neither like nor dislike you, I am neutral. I did stick up for you though, when goldfish said you could work 40 hours a week and the only reason you don't is because you don't want to "better" yourself. He has absolutely no understanding of the fact that everyone is different. If you say you can only work part-time, I believe you. I really felt he was badgering you unfairly.

I hope this job situation gets worked out successfully for you. Best of luck.

So true! Sly, you'll have to check what are the rules where you live.

That's another thing to check - the rules might be different between full-time and part-time.

Please keep us posted - I (and others!) like you and care what happens to you. The thing is,
you might have to create the outcome. Well, who am I to say. But the big solution for me
would have been, like my co-worker, to ask to be laid off now.

If a company is downsizing or going bankrupt and the word is out, then perhaps it is a good time to seek employment elsewhere. Sometimes it is easier to get another job when you already have a job. It gives you one step ahead of a person who has lost a job or who is unemployed.

He shouldn’t go up to HR and ask them to lay him off. That would be considered “quitting,” making him ineligible for unemployment benefits.

It would be much better if he was laid off at the company’s discretion. Let THEM lay you off.

Quitting would be disastrous.

In other words: do NOT quit, Sly. Do not offer to be the person to be laid off.

I was laid off when a call center I worked in part-time for 3 or 4 years closed. The company offered some "outplacement" services: resume classes, computer skills classes, help signing up for Unemployment income, job fairs and position listings, etc. That's when I got a civil service job that I kept for 12 years.

If any outplacement services are offered - and you still haven't gotten any other job - take advantage of them. All of those services were free, and I think I even got reimbursed for transportation to and from the classes.

How are you today, Sly?

I think you’re probably eligible for unemployment benefits if you don’t quit. Don’t do anything that would cause you to be “fired for cause”—like calling in sick too often.

I believe you’ve been working at least 2 years at this place. Plus you worked in a bookstore previously.

The benefits would probably be about half of normal unemployment benefits.

Better today

I’m going see if they’re place me somewhere
I’d not likely find another job given my hours.

I had 12 hours sic time now I’ll have 8 hours

It’ll be 3 years in September.

The estimate said I’d get 550ish unemployment so less then I make now. I hope to get placed elsewhere as I said above I don’t think I’ll find another job again

Wow. I never said any of this. If you’re going to quote me, don’t misquote me.

Sly said it’s not the tasks he can’t do, it’s the hours. So I asked him what happens after x# of hours that prevents him from completing an 8 hour shift. I asked so I could better understand sly’s reality & possibily make a suggestion as to what he might do to overcome the constraints he has to being able to work more hours than he does.

Meanwhile, in that same thread, You were calling sly a loser and I had to remind you that you were on an autism support forum and that ASD can impair people beyond the ability to work.
