Pot is now legal in Canada. You can buy it at the liquor store where I live. I smoke pot. However the building I live in your not allowed to smoke. It has a sprinkler system and fire alarms. Since my memory is bad I worry I will forget this, light up in my room and have the sprinklers go off. I think thats grounds for eviction. I dont know what I would do if I was stoned and that happend. It would ruin my room. I dont know how to turn the sprinklers off. Hopefully I would never be this stupid, but someone had to tell me in the first place not to smoke in my room, because I didnt have the common sense to know the sprinklers would go off. They caught me just in time. Thank god.

Have edibles instead of smoking.

I'm not encouraging you to smoke weed or violate the terms of your lease, but sprinkler heads are activated by temperatures between 155-165 degrees F, not by bong hits.
Please don't worry.

The sprinklers aren't that sensitive. They don't go off when you burn toast in the toaster, do they? Open the window a little bit when you smoke if it worries you.

oh I was so worried. I will continue to smoke outside anyway. I was just worried that I would forget and smoke inside. Were not allowed smoking in here anyway. I think the fire alarm might go off as it has when people make smoke while cooking.

I thought it already was legal in Canada :?

I know the last time I was there, a few years ago now, we had a lot of trouble trying to get back into America, because they thought we were smuggling weed back home.

You shouldn't smoke cannabis. It's legal in Canada now and probably will be everywhere else in the western world before long; that's because Big Business realises it can make a lot of money out of ruining people's lives with the stuff, and what Big Business wants, governments see to it that it gets. This doesn't make it right, however. It's strongly linked to schizophrenia, depression and other mental disoders. You'll only ever become happy if you live in the real world rather than trying to escape it. Please do some research on this, if you haven't already.

If you don't smoke, don't guilt trip those of us who do. You have no idea why we might. Other neurological problems can be more troublesome to some people than anything you mentioned. Cannabis also does not remove people from the real world.

I work for a 9000 person company. I've also been a licensed medical marijuana patient. I wouldn't in a million years call my dispensary nor any of their growers or extraction labs "big business". Come to think of it, if you're ever in Colorado I'll prove all this to you. You're probably going to tell me I'm insane & so is OP. Truthfully I'm sorry you've closed your mind too much to understand this part of others' lives.

In other words welcome to the internet; we will probably do some things that scare you.

Medical usage of cannabis is perfectly legitimate, but it makes up only a very, very small proportion of net use. I've noticed that this is the tactic of pro-drugs lobbyists in the UK (where I live): pour heaps and heaps of attention on the handful of cases of marijuana use where there was a legitimate medical reason for it and manipulate the public into afreeing to legalise it on that basis, which of course is a stepping stone towards complete legalisation. I'd never condemn someone for using cannabis for medical reasons, but that's not what the original poster was talking about.

I wouldn't call cannabis harvesters "Big Business" either, but the companies that employ them certainly come under that heading.

I don't think it's safe to assume the whys of anyone using a drug without knowing them. Marijuana legalization is largely a matter of providing a safe alternative to people who might otherwise seek more addictive pain or anxiety relief.
