Social security disability made mistakes and so sent me $2,000 and raising my payments to $765 so $287 more a month. Which would seem good but no no we have to report it to housing who’ll take all of it :( people on benifits can never have anything good happen to them. I get the rent would need to go up but to take the 8 months backpay is horrible

They’d find out eventually and cut us off housing.

I know it totally sux but krafti is rite that you gotta report it. I have an idea how this stuff works cuz my girlfriend has a Section 8 housing voucher & lived in subsidized housing for a year before. She's on SSI & I was on SSI before I started working but it changed to Social Security Disability after I quit working. The only reason I'm allowed to have some money is cuz I'm classified as her caretaker/live-in-aid so my income & resources aren't factored in. She really cant handle living alone due to lots of mental & some physical issues. Things may change next year because we'll be common law married. Social Security asked her if I was her boyfriend when we moved in together & she cant lie & said Yes. I'm really hoping SSA won't realize that cuz we have alot of debt partly cuz she developed Compulsive Buying Disorder. I really should look for a part time job where I can earn alittle money but still keep my SSDI, Medicare, & Medicaid but we're trying to move so the job search has to wait.

The tax office finally decided I was on the wrong tax code (since April) and repaid all the tax they had taken so my

UC top up went down to balance it out, but since the tax came from wages they will only take account of 2/3 of it so

I will be a little up. Next month (assuming it's right) I will find out for the first time since I have had this job (Feb

5th) how much money I have to live on each month :? .

That sounds complicated but working while on SSI is pretty complicated too, especially when your officially part time for your 1st year but allowed to make overtime sometimes. Some weeks I would work 32 hours but others I might work 55/60. I'd get some SSI & then I'd get a letter saying how I made more than they expected so I wasn't eligible for any SSI & I owed them the money they gave me in my last check. I'd pay them with my credit-card & then I'd get a letter in that I made less than they expected so I was eligible for SSI money again & I'd get back what I had recently paid them. Using a credit-card was nice because I could not have more than two thousand in the bank in order for me to get any SSI. The credit-card gave me extra time for me to pay it. I could earn a couple extra paychecks at work & it gave SSA a little time to realize that I deserved some SSI if I was back to working part time hours.

If you make more then $1,180 you’ll lose social security. I have to be careful. Especially since min wage keeps going up here, eventually I’ll have to quit.

I wish social security hadn’t realized their mistake it’s just depressing to see you were owed money and think yay finally getting a little ahead only to realize boo the other government organization will just take it. In actuality they probably raise rent so I’ll be making less then I do now :( so May have to quit my job sooner.
They should just be like oh that’s back pay enjoy it, we understand you don’t make much and hardly get to enjoy life.
They’d be paying how much they are anyway so why care that I got backpay one month or Christmas bonus. Cause can’t let poor people enjoy life or try to improve their situation

Is that how much you can make on SSI or SSDI :?: The federal minimum wage hasn't gone up in a long time & won't go up again till we have a president change.

The COLA is going up next year but my girlfriend won't see it because her Section 8 & food-stamps will be reduced to compensate. If I did my math correctly, I'll be getting an extra $24 or $25 a month. However my Comcast bill will go up, maybe so will my Verizon bill & maybe the Medicare Extra Help program will have a slightly higher copay for prescriptions so I won't really see that extra $25.

The GOP LOVES to complain about people on welfare programs but they refuse to do a damned thing to help them get off the programs other than making the programs harder to get & reducing what they pay. If the government would actually invest in helping people be independent & self sufficient, it will save them money in the long run. It's like the saying goes~ Give a man a fish & he'll eat for a day but teach a man to fish & he'll eat for a lifetime. Plus it'll help the economy which will help big business & the government could collect more revenue from taxes.

Ssi is more complicated. Roughly they take half minus 85 into consideration. Like I don’t get any ssi cause I make too much. I get my medical insurance from ssi, which means if I go over $1,180 or I’ll lose that too, it also means since ssi doesn’t allow savings over $2000 I can’t save much. Ssdi doesn’t care if you save it doesn’t care how much yiur cars worth etc, just how much you make. If you start working eventually you’ll be moved to ssdi as yiu get enough work credits. That’s what happen to me.

My states min wage goes up .50 every year I believe. It’s 10.75 now and in 2022 it’ll be 13.50 I make 11.58 an hour. So if I was able to work 20 hours I’d make too much 2-3 times a year. As is I’ll be close, so I’ll probably have to ask for unpaid Time off thos months. Cause it’ll be $1,111 but there could be holiday pay that brings it up.
So I may have to quit next year or year after

Wow, I don't think any benefits here get affected until you have savings over £6000 and then they take the

expected interest you would earn into account not the savings themselves because they want people to save.

Are your benefits not staggered then? For example I earn about £477 so the guv gives me £277, if my earnings

increased by £90 a month the guv would give me £60 less, so I would always be better off by earning more.

The word "Politics" is a portmanteau of two words -- "poly", meaning "many", and "ticks", meaning "small, blood-sucking insect".

This is why it takes politics ("many small, blood-sucking insects") to run a government.

Ssdi disability based in work credits doesn’t care how much savings you have, ssi only lets you have 2,000 savings.
Max I can get from either is $765, ssi takes half of whatever I make away from that. I don’t get any ssi though as I get ssdi and work.
Meanwhile in Australia they give people 2,000 a month. Probably where ours should be but they stole the money from social security and rigged the cost of living increase system so they never have to give what we need. Last year I got $15 more a month, but everything else went up. Food cost more, gas cost more, rent cost more.

See here it’s different they punish you for trying to improve. If I could work full time I’d end up homeless.

Depends where you live in the USA. I live in a state that recognizes that some people are, well, different.

There are other states that think that too much is being spend on SSDI benefits, and are in favor of spending less. The idea being that changing the rules will encourage more people to work. I think this is because they don't recognize that some people can't work due to mental issues even if they look able bodied.

Those are federal things. I live in liberal Oregon.
