Just a question.

This is a later edit. I removed my previous post because I always come back and want to delete it but can't.

There is such a thing as true friendship. It's one of the things which makes life worthwhile. Perhaps you are indeed suffering from depression which is robbing you of finding any purpose in life.

Maybe there are beings who exist on a higher plane and it's likely our consciousness continues in a better form rather than abruptly ending. What if it's all a test run to see how we cope?

I like most humans as individuals who have their strengths and weaknesses but it's humanity I can't stand as that is what is self destructive and with great capacity for evil.

We don't even register on the Kardashev scale and we will likely go extinct before we do. I mourn for humanity, but we will be our own undoing. Carl Sagan said it best "We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself".

I agree with envirozentinel. I like humans as individuals but I hate humanity as a whole because we always do such cruel things to each other and because we are slowly destroying the planet.

And I don't hate being human. If I wasn't human I would not be able to enjoy the things I like such as movies and video games. :)

I'm a misanthrope, and I would jump on the chance to be something other than human if I could. Does anyone have an Escafil Device?

I think I know what form you'd choose.

I hate that humans exist.

Has anyone ever watch "the day the earth stood still"?

I would have fully supported the alien removing all of us. I was well pissed she convinced him not to kill us because a kid was sad his dad died and we like music.

Well here's the way I view humans: humans are not pure evil, we are just a very flawed species that has overpopulated the planet. We are still just as much a part of nature as every other living creature.

Maybe if our population was greatly reduced the earth could heal itself but it would not be right to completely drive us into extinction. We have just as much right to survive as any other species of animals or plants.

It's a very good movie. I think Klaatu &his comrades decided not to destroy humanity because he saw there were at least some humans who were compassionate and worth saving. He decided that the good outweighed the bad and would spare the planet for the sake of the good elements of society.

It's hard to imagine people would have been pleased by an ending where only Dr Benson and her son were taken up in the ship and the rest of humanity destroyed... Interesting ending but too dark for most.

No!!
Are you f*****g kidding me!?
I LOVE being human. We Are special. I mean, FFS, we Are the Universe observing itself.. evolved consciousness made from stardust & energy. And I particularly LOVE being human NOW, during the most exciting time in all of human history! (IMO) We're experiencing such rapid change - some of it good (science/technology), some of it bad (man made destruction of our planet) - and We are lucky enough to not only be born human, but to be here Now to witness the most exciting rapid progress of our species. Or perhaps extinction at our own hands.. but either way, it's the single greatest time to be alive here on Earth as a human being, IMO! Embrace it. Enjoy the ride. 8)

Non-human here. I am already cybernetic, and plan to full take advantage of further augmentations as a 2nd generation adopter.

I wouldn't have saved them either. You're totally right in that their ending makes a better film. But I just wasn't convinced that humanity had proven their worth

I love the film, really loved Klaatu's character.

i'd give a lot for a pair of wings, i'd give it all for a literal third eye, i'd give all i have for a hand with 11 fingers, my breath demands a different gas. that being said, i feel like im not fitting in a describtion of human. i wish i could look so different nobody would expect "normal human" behaviour off me.

Jolly good answer!

Most folk have fear of anything or anyone "different ".

Most folk are so scared stiff of anything alien to their experience that they are immediately defensive. Me, I would be happy to meet aliens and keep them away from the authorities...
