My cat passed away last night
My mom called me this morning to tell me that my cat, Lily, died in her sleep last night. She was an old cat, almost 17, and we knew she didn't have much time left because of kidney failure and were probably going to have to take her into the vet to be euthanized next week. I've had her since she was a kitten, and even though I've lost pets before this hurts a lot more because she was special. Sometimes she was the only being that was able to provide comfort to me when I was upset. She always knew when I was upset because she'd meow and come rub herself again me and cuddle with me. I love her so much, and the thought of never seeing her or petting her again is heartbreaking.
She was a black and white tuxedo with gray tabby stripes. I'll never forget how I got her! She was waiting for me at the bus stop when I got home from girl scout camp one summer with my mom and brother.
This Christmas is really gonna suck. ![]()
Thank you. As far as getting another cat, I can't have one where I'm living. I go visit my parents quite frequently though and we still have 3 other cats. It just won't be the same though because of course she won't be there, and she ALWAYS slept with me at night and would follow me around the house. My parents are having her cremated, and I'll get the ashes back to keep with me.

I'm sorry SP. Me & my girlfriend had to put our cat down a couple years ago rite after the holidays cuz of kidney failure. It's good Lily went peacefully in her sleep even if the timing sux being rite before Christmas instead of rite after the holidays. You or your parents could potentially feel guilty for making the choice to put her to sleep. My girlfriend still feels guilty about that but she would of felt guilty if she decided not to & our cat would of died by suffering. I know it's going to be very painful for a while but it'll gradually hurt less thou it may always hurt. BTW I'm not sure about your current living situations but apartments & some other places that don't allow pets are required by law to allow emotional support animals. They're not considered pets. The person has to have a disability & the animal has to provide some service or function that can help with a disability including providing emotional support. You'd probably need a doc to sign off on it but if you have Aspergerxs or any other mental disorders, you can probably get a doc to.

Thanks. Unfortunately I live with my best friend who owns the condo and she does not want pets. She said if I had a cat, I'd have to keep it in my room only, and we both agree that wouldn't be fair to make an animal stay in one room all the time.

I know it's going to be very rough but I hope your holidays go as well as they could & you enjoy yourself.

I am sorry to hear that you lost your cat.
When I was out in the desert one time. It was hot and I was thirsty so I purchased a Coke. Out popped a can of Coke and then also a kitten. I was with a friend so I said that was strange and said lets try that again. I dropped in a coin and out popped another can of Coke and another kitten. It didn't make any sense to me. I thought maybe the kittens found the coke machine to be a cool spot in the desert on a hot day and somehow managed to crawl inside the machine.
Anyways I took one of the kittens home with me and gave the other one to my friend. The cat grew to be rather large maybe twice the size of any cat I ever owned. It was also very brave and would tangle with the coyotes in the area and come home all tore up. So I would gently take it into the basement. And after about a week, it was mended and up and about again.
