Bloody wind gusts are driving me crazy, today. (Or crazier, I should say.) If we lose power, I may end up with a flooded basement, since water is still seeping in pretty badly. Sump pump is cycling every 20 minutes. I have a battery backup system, but it needs a new battery. (They are out of stock, currently, at Home Depot.) My already frazzled nerves are kindling at the moment.

Also starting to feel some effects here. This would be the second "bomb cyclone" in a month.

During the last one a couple of weeks ago, the barometric pressure reading at my home at the bomb cyclone's peak would've been 29.16, a reading akin to the center of a strong tropical storm.

Weather really wonky here... A bit earlier a Tornado warning for my county came up on FB... Less than a minute later I hear a siren... Then my husband (who's in the hospital) calls and says "the nurse says there's a tornado warning!" But later they cancel the warning here, but a couple areas in lower MI did see tornado touchdowns...

I didn't know what a bomb cyclone was till I just googled it. Hang in there. I went through Hurricane Irma and it is very scary listening to the wind and the unknown banging and other noises. The storm eventually ends. Good luck!

29.16 is a low barometric pressure.

But, in a major tropical cycle, the pressure sometimes goes below even 28. I would say 28.50 is an extremely low barometric pressure.

I'm sorry you're going through this, Vegetable Man. The weather has improved in the "Bomb Cyclone" area, though (except probably the northeast part of it), so you'll probably be able to go to Home Depot tomorrow. Are you near a place like Omaha?

I'm in Central Illinois. It's calming down, now, and the power is still on. Thanks for all the replies.

^Thanks! It's been a tiring day. On The bright side, it got up to about 70 degrees! That felt great!

Yes it did! But it was raining much of the day.

Sitting here in bed I looked out the window and saw stars... I'm like geez things really cleared up... I'm not really a star expert but taking a closer look they were clearly Orion, Sirius and a nice moon too!
