When I'm on here, I tell the truth. Not the complete truth but the blunt truth and most importantly how I feel and what I actually think. Sometimes I contradict myself and I find it ironic that there's a 'unpopular aspies thread' cos I can't tell what the hive mind is on here which makes me suspect there isn't one.

If that makes me a bad person than so be it cos I've had some bad experiences. Besides I'm not always a bad person, I'm a complicated person.

When I'm on Reddit it's full of word police and thought police. I have to match my experience up to the majority.

I think it's cos aspies are so individual and (despite complaints over on general) we have quite an international mix on here and a real mix of interest and stuff. Reddit's a hive mind.

I said 'most guys I know b**ch about each other behind each other's backs just like women but I prefer that to the guys I know who fist fight - my ex even got in a fist fight with his twin brother' (this is a real all ages forum and we get actual teens on here, I'm fed up of censoring around adults esp if it's only a b word) and she had a right go at me for using a sexist slur then reworded what I said and it wasn't even what I said - clearly here, b...h refers to backstabbing and sniping not to whining and being upset.

I'm just gonna quit it cos it's unnecessary stress and I'm getting told off for being a regular person.

They even had a go at me for preferring football over American football. Football's my specialist interest as most people know about me.

If Reddit were a country it would be Rome. Living in Rome would be difficult if you are different from the majority, so I understand what you went through. I went through the same, and it was quite a struggle. I gave up Reddit recently too. I may go back to it however, but right now I'm off it.

I posted something about trying to encourage girls to do football/soccer and she said 'I think women should do their own sport not soccer' I said 'I hated netball at school' she said 'yeah I never liked volleyball at school, it should be football'... um I've never heard of female American football... I doubt it's a female designed sports based around women's strengths...

Personally I'd rather play soccer than American football. There are opportunities for a short, less muscular, slim winger to sneak past other players, using nothing but speed and stealth. I don't know much about American football to comment but from a distance it looks like rugby in armour and rugby is very physical strength (muscle) based.

I tried following Celtic women's team (that means actively supporting not stalking lol), they had 60 minute match highlights on YouTube. But I can't find them anymore and it's not televised afaik.

My heroine sports wise is Katy Taylor, the boxer. Now she's a woman who's physically strong and tough. She fought (in the ring) with boys through her teen years if I remember her biography correctly.

If a woman wants to become a famous athlete solely for the sake of the fame (which is a stupid idea, it's wise never to do anything solely for fame) she should take up tennis. Almost everyone in the world knows of the Williams sisters.

And idk about Rome. All I know about Rome is Vatican City, and in that way yeah it is, very strict and hierarchical and having to be pure and repent over anything impure, even thoughts.

You would be surprised how easygoing Rome is.....especially when compared to Vatican City.

There have been women hockey players...but never any women professional American football players.

I really wonder what she was getting at then? Women's soccer isn't as popular as men's (except in the USA because the women are more successful than the men) but it's still a fairly well known thing, which people regret not getting as much attention.

I don't know what Zack means. I've never been to Rome, only Florence. Also - apart from Vatican City - Rome isn't a country? Zack, are you Italian? We say 'city' for somewhere as small as Rome, the country is Italy. Or do you mean ancient Rome?

I think like anywhere it depends on the sub forum. Even here does. On here, I stay out of philosophy and politics.

I admire strong women but generally sports women are good at the other S's rather than being good when it comes to brute force. We did the S's in PE: stamina, strength, stealth, speed, I can't remember the fifth one. I mean when comparing females and males.

Personally my thing is just getting young people of both sexes physically active. Once someone hits 18 that's their own prerogative but girls shouldn't be hating exercise. Autistic kids of both sexes shouldn't be, either. One of the few things the bad secondary I went to gave me was a lot of individual sports rather than team games so I couldn't be chosen last, and records of how well I did so I could improve on myself (I'm dyspraxic) rather than comparing to a non dyspraxic peer. Exercise is important to keeping healthy.

I don't know how much anonymity is to blame actually, Kraftie. I used to believe lack of anonymity was the answer to solving people saying stupid stuff online. But now, we have that in certain places. On here, we don't get many trolls. On Nation States, people tend to either be obvious trolls or say what they think. On Twitter (Celtic Twitter - every subsection of that site is different again) I came across a lot of extreme Republican* stuff and people were using their real name and city and posting selfies. The girls were taking half dressed selfies, too. I got people hating me because I don't take selfies. These days I prefer the online worlds of anonymity such as forums.

*which means something very different in Ireland to in USA

Seriously none of you all have known that Rome was a country? Like Rome as in the country during 300 BC? The Roman Empire. Julius Caesar was an emperor of Rome? I abbreviated Rome for the Roman Empire.

I was making a point about how bad democracy was, since I felt like it was affecting you badly. Reddit I believed was like a democracy.

We call that Ancient Rome.

Otherwise people get confused and think you mean nowadays.

That's why I asked if you meant Ancient Rome.

Rome is a city in the country known as Italy.

It hasn't been the capital of the entity known as the Roman Empire since 476 AD.

Have never been on reddit. Have no idea how it works. Looks like a strange format compared to v-bulletin forums like this one.

Yeah but to be fair it is one of the most famous things in history so if people are clear and say 'Ancient Rome' most people would know a fair bit about it.

Although I still don't know it as very conformist. At least compared to the rest of history, seems pretty standard.

Nowadays in the west, we're in a very libertarian age compared to most of history, I think. But if I was going to mention a time which was conformist, I'd think of the middle ages or Cromwellian times in England.

I'm basing most of this in stereotype though.

One thing I love about WP is when we get off topic the topics we go onto are interesting So I don't mind the drift.

There was much forced conformity during medieval times. One could get beheaded (or drawn and quartered) for painting a realistic image of a person. Or, especially, of Jesus. That's why the art, by and large, was much inferior, during medieval times, to that of the immediately succeeding Renaissance.

Ironically, Cromwellian England was enabled by a bunch of noncomformists (a considerable portion of them being Puritans), who later became the agent of extremely forced conformity.
