i have figured out that i absolutely CAN NOT be happy by myself regrdless of what i've tried, it's just not happening.

i'm only happy when i'm around other people, but nobody approaches me! EVER!! !! !


how the hell do people do it?

You haven't failed, Kip. You've simply aimed to high. Happiness is a lofty goal. Try for contentment.

That help me get through the day.

My friend (male) had alot of success joining common interest groups like motorbikes and dancing

Is there any sort of special interest group you could join for socializing?

I met a woman that claimed she couldn't sleep unless she had someone with her. Like, literally.

Just be glad you're not her. (And I'm glad I don't have to be her partner)

Are people really happy by themselves? Some may be to some degree or another but I think the rest might fill that hole with other things until they forget what they were originally trying to fill it with and then, when asked, they point to the things they've been filling it with and say "look at all this, of course I'm happy!"

For me, it is better to not be around the wrong precious lil "people" or the right ones, than to be around the right and wrong ones

It is hard to find out, who the right ones are

So many standards

And the right one today could be wrong tomorrow

I don't think happiness occurs when you (editorially) are aiming for it. I think it sneaks up on you when you are concentrating on something else.

I agree with Fnord, contentment is good.

I also think happiness will find you someday when you are alone.

Are there any autistic groups near you?

a lot of folks meet others either in church or if one is not into that, then the military. neither worked for me but YMMV. I have only had luck when I was the proactive one. if one can call it any kind of luck.

try playing online games? a lot of socialization without even leaving ur room, without having to deal with all the face-to-face problems (eyecontact, blast it, body language, sensory overload). ya, navigating game communities as an autist is not too easy either, but at least u get a more... even... chance. because hardest stuff is filtered out.

I play online Scrabble from time to time. That's actually quite sociable as some of the players want to chat and you get to play people from all over the world in real time.

I've played people everywhere from Nigeria to Siberia, Weat Indies to Pakistan and many more.

Don't give up Kip. Another thing that helps is to get involved in a community charity effort, for animals or the less fortunate, perhaps even animal activism. Then you're part of a group with a set purpose who work together to improve life for others.
