I got really sick last night and had a bad fever so I went to the hospital and I found out I have influenza and strep throat at the same time... I live around all these elderly people, I would feel bad if I spread this around! Oh and strep flu isn't fun...

Just get yourself treated, and take standard precautions like washing your hands and not coughing into people’s faces.

Rest up. And you’ll be okay.

My husbands off to the pharmacy to pick up my meds for this. I got kinda concerned also cause they did apartment inspections today but we passed that fine, they make us aware they are coming in well ahead of time.

If you don't have lots of junk in your apartment, and you don't have dishes piling in the sink, you'll be okay if there's an inspection.

Make sure you have a little bit of food in the refrigerator. This would be especially true if there were kids around. Things like milk, soda, juices, fruits, vegetables.

As long as the place doesn't stink, too. Make sure the garbage is taken out often.

For both strep and flu, the most important medicines are bed rest and lots of fluids. (Well, of course, you probably will take antibiotics for the strep).

I'm not surprised you got ill because you have been under a lot of stress the past couple months. Don't short yourself on sleep for now.

Also let me just mention that it is quite common for people to have depression after a bad illness. If you find yourself feeling really low, try to remind yourself of this. Usually this resolves by itself with time.

I would not mix with other building residents until you know you're non-contagious - probably a week. Just stay in your apartment.

That sounds horrible! I hope you feel better soon! Get lots of rest and drink lots of fluids.

It's not your fault. It's something that's "going around." Don't blame yourself. Just take care of him.

Can you get Tamiflu? I am scared of getting the flu since I am on immunosuppressants now.

I'm taking it, my insurance payed for it.

Oh, and we're getting better, not quite totally gone yet but I'm not as sick as I was.
