I have to go to my therapist next Wednesday, but it is at a later hour. I tried rescheduling at an earlier time, but they have all been filled. My husband can't take me because he has to volunteer that day. My mom offered, saying it is no trouble, but the truth is, I don't want to overwhelm her into getting a third stroke.

My mom got her first stroke shortly after giving birth to me, and she had another one last year. This is a big deal because I had put too much stress on her and got into countless fights and arguments with her which I now regret, therefore the strokes are my fault.

I voiced this concern with my husband, who then called her. She said it is no trouble, and that this appointment will bring her peace of mind. But it didn't make me feel better because I don't want her to jump through hoops just for me. Now I am scared to spend any time with her because she might drop dead in front of me from smoking and stress from work (she just turned 59). I am upset and stressed because any day with my mom could be the last that I get to be with her.

Then make every day count and let her know just how much you love and appreciate her. (Not that she doesn't already know you love her dearly)

She seems to WANT to take you to the appointment.

I don't believe just taking you to an appointment would bring about a stroke.

what kraft said. listen to the person. they could just mean what they say ^^ dont second-guess them, that could give them more stress than u are trying to avoid...

There are many factors and variables involved in a stroke

Correlation versus causation

While you could have had a positive, neither, or negative impact on her health,

Some of having a child is inherently stressful. Having a child costs time money and energy.

Some things have been shown to increase the chances of a stroke

Like diet

But no one thing is to blame

Uber. Why would you need your mother to go?
