My psychologist said we could set up an appointment about getting my antipsychotic medication reduced. Hes done this to other patients before right? Im excited to lose weight from this, but also nervouse. I have a fear that I will start going crazy. Hopefully this is just me worrying to much again. Anyone else have their medication reduced? Im going down to 50 mg.

I always forget the name of the med. It is for schizophrenia and autism.

Clozapine? If weight gain is an issue taking metformin can negate weight gain associated with antipsychotics but can have GI side effects, something you can ask your doctor about. CBD in particular has antipsychotic effects and causes no weight gain. Could use them in combination if you felt you needed more relief and your lower dose of your antipsychotic wasnt cutting it. High CBD cannabis or oil has a much more tolerable side effect profile.

I've never had any psychotic disorder even though I have been on many antipsychotics for other issues. You could always ask your doctor to raise it back up if the dosage reduction doesnt work out.

There is also Saphris, an atypical antipsychotic with the least amount of weight gain of any antipsychotic on the market, nearly weight neutral but Clozapine is supposed to be the best for schizophrenia.
