Entering age in my profile was the biggest mistake I ever made on WP. I have been made to feel sorry for it one way or another by many people for years. I thought maybe when I finally became an adult it would finally stop, but no, even though I am a grown man.

I should just leave and maybe eventually come back with a different account. I'm sure the mods would understand and agree to it.

I don’t see your age.

If someone cares about your age its their problem, like any other kind of unwarranted judgement.

I removed it from under my avatar, but it's still stuck in my profile. I could change it to whatever, but those who always make an issue of it know already so that won't help any.

And so what, I'm not supposed to let it bother me?

Thank you.

I know I will never leave WP. But I have seriously thought about starting up a new account.

I don't know your age, but I gather you're quite young.
Your posts come across as a lot more mature than a lot of the stuff I read on here.

I've thought about that too from time to time, but I'm sure people would soon recognise me and then it'd be back to Raleigh in their minds anyway, so I don't see how it would help.

It's not that you're expected not to be bothered by the ageist button pushers of WP, I just wouldn't give them the satisfaction of knowing it.
Report, report, report, and don't engage with the perps.
They're the ones who need to grow up.

It's even the nice "you are so mature for you age" and "when I was your age I wasn't that smart" type comments I'm tired of. How many more years do I have to wait until not hearing that? Also even though I know it is not meant that way, it kinda comes off as people my age are all childish and clueless. In less than a year I'll be the same age my uncles were when they both got married.

Yes. It's very frustrating when people look more at the age than the person. There is this expectation that age is an indicator of maturity and intelligence, or of identity in general. But that's not always accurate.
Being put in a box against one's will hurts like hell, I know that feeling.
Sadly, most people do this from time to time so it's really unavoidable. And I understand why you want to start new, but at the same time it's a bit sad because you have established yourself here as EzraS.

People are always saying EzraS is cool. Just look below.

Nobody’s making a thread saying Kraftie is cool. Boo Hoo!

People just use age as a rhetorical point. Trying to win brownie points in the debate. It goes with the territory of debating. Don’t punk out.

Don’t let that deter you.

Looks like I f****d up with my comment, then.

I've had to do that for years. Everyone has their breaking point. Straw that broke the camel's back.

Next time, come back with two humps.

And take pride in your young age/older wisdom image.

I’m 58, an old man who feels pride in acting young.
