...At this " medical respite " place the staff keeps destroying/losing my clothes and absurdly delaying laundering the clothes I duo have! For days, I have been told. y laundry would be done and then they are.n't, and " nobody knows nothing about anything " :( .
I have sometimes had involuntary bowel movements while asleep :( . After me having them, the staff has insisted on throwing out the clothes I had on while asleep - not the underwear I had on, that was really stained, I grant, had to be tossed - but the clothes that were maybe a little stsined - maybe - and could easily be washed! They claim it's " policy " . They have. Mwashing machines! Furthermore, at least one T-shirt, that I particularly liked, and WAS NOT STAINED AT SLL, BEING STAINED WAS NOT A FACTOR AT ALL, somehow disappeared - and everyone claims they know nothing about it :( !. Not even counting the lostt underwear, the gone clothes probably total to more than $70, mostly if not all bought from Target - maybe more than $100 :( .

I think they have to use super hot water to wash clothes that are covered in feces, especially in a shared laundry facility. So that is why they would throw away your soiled clothes. They don’t want to risk contaminating other peoples clothes or the machines.

Red Robin posted some information for you on another thread about your medicare covering incontinence products. You really should look at Depends and disposable pads made to go under/over your bedsheets. Then your clothes won’t get soiled. So many people use such things you can pick them up at most drugstores or Walmart.

...But I"m talking about the underwear that was really soiled. I said that :( . How am I supposed to have clothes? And they have taken days and days claiming that they would wash other, different, clothes - clothes NIT affected in any way by the bowel problems! :(

You said the clothes were stained. Even a little bit of “stuff “ on them could cause the clothes to be tossed.

I have accidents while sleeping. That's why I wear a diaper to bed. And also for long trips etc.

I understand you're upset about losing clothing.
I've had stuff thrown away which I'm still unhappy about, it's often hard to let things like that go.
At my most recent hospital visit they even threw away my favourite fluffy towel because it had a little blood on it, and I could have easily washed it, but that does seem the policy now, that everything is thrown away because of contamination concerns.

I also second what Anne said about looking into funding for incontinence aids.
I get an allowance for that now due to accidents during seizures.
The last one was for $500, I'm not sure how often they are paid??
But that's got to be better than a kick (or a sh!t) in the pants.

Maybe look into whether Medicaid has these sorts of “allowances.”

Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover disposable incontinence supplies. In my state, Medicaid covers incontinence supplies only for children between the ages of 5 and 21.

The DD Waiver program in my state covers incontinence supplies for adults. According to their website, California also has a DD Waiver and a self-directed care program, which allows for more flexibility.

Your ASD diagnosis should qualify you for either of these programs. Once on a program you could access services that might get you off the street if that is something you want.

I don't honestly know if ASS-P has an ASD diagnosis.

I don't know anyone in SF, but if you want to PM me with information on where you are, I could try to talk to a social worker there. It's my profession in another state, but I know some of the logistics and buzz words.

You're in "medical respite." It doesn't make sense for them to throw you out because you go to the bathroom on yourself.

Don't they have medications for that sort of thing?

ok. I have a phone number and am trying to call. So far, it is busy. You might want to make sure that staff there know that blazing star is trying to reach you. I am sure they will not give out your information without your consent. Of course, if you say blazing star, they will probably think you are crazy.
