Seriously. Scots who don't support us are being horrible at the moment. Especially if I come out about being mentally ill or autistic. Things which make me popular amongst our support for having challenges and facing up to them.

It's deep rooted in jealousy.

If someone is a foreigner then fine. I'll be their friend. But even there, I'm not going to be friends with bigots. I lack the energy for it.

Seems to me that I get on well with every Celtic fan out there, even the ex. But everyone else hates me. I'd rather be around people who make me feel good than try to fit the mold for everyone else.

I feel the same way.

Why be friends with bigots? Being friends with bigots does not make logical sense.

You don't have to be!
Out if curiosity, are you hostile towards Rangers fans etc?

Not to the same extent. Only players of theirs I would ever make a mention of their health about are Goram and Gazza. Because they used mental illness or addiction as an excuse for violence/terrorism etc. Only fan of theirs I make a mention of his addiction of is my old neighbour who threatened me.

It was a Ross County fan who was giving me grief today, only online. Ross County aren't even SPL. I don't even care about their stupid team and he's probably the only Ross County fan I'll ever encounter. I don't even know HOW to banter with one of them.

I expect a certain amount of grief from Rangers fans, Hearts fans, Motherwell fans etc. But it seems like the only ones who have been taught how to behave when someone says they've had a breakdown is Celtic fans, foreigners and people who don't like football. Probably has to do with our roots as a charity.

People hate me because I brag and I engage in light banter or say it how it is for eg calling a thug a thug or a crap team a crap team. Celtic fans love it about me. I don't mind the hate, it's just 99% of the time, I would never use someone's breakdown against them.

I also don't make religion a reason to hate someone or what country their ancestors came from. I don't hate people being gay or straight.

I'm going through some bigger stress right now - my dad just disowned me because like I said, mental illness is no excuse for violence and I told him I feel unsafe around him. And I just can't handle people who think mental illness, sexuality, heritage or religion is a reason to hate.

Maybe that's not every other Scottish team's every fan. But all the Rangers fans I've met have hated people for things they can't help or over religion. And apparently my bragging is getting really on everone else's nerves right now so maybe I need to stick to my own for the next few years, til I can stop being annoying.

(Most people I know irl are Celtic fans btw, I'm not cutting non-Rangers fans off in real life except my dad. And I'm not going to cut foreigners or non football fans off either, just going to avoid talking generically about football with Scottish fans of other clubs while we're dominant as people are taking it really badly and being bitter)

It sounds quite nice belonging to a kind of big tribe, but do other Celtic fans ever spur you on to make inflammatory comments? :)

Kind of.

That's why I don't use twitter.

Only rebs I like are:
1 ones set before the 70s
2 ones which are just about being victimised. Heck, Bloody Sunday was on the radio today because it was in the news. That's technically a rebel song. Rebs bands cover it.
3 funny ones which are actually taking the …. and not serious

When they're serious... that's a problem. People shouldn't be pro PIRA. I've had Celtic fans tell me I'm a Unionist because of that opinion. I'm not, I just don't sympathise with terrorists.

Some guy in our CSC wears all that stuff, I give him a wide berth because of it. I don't care if I believe in a cause, killing civilians isn't the way to get to it.

My uncle is into that, he gets totally pissed and then plays Irish pipe music at full blast the next morning. He's full of tall stories about all of that stuff.

Anyway, good luck staying out off trouble.

Ironically, the guy I vented this stuff to on Reddit is a Rangers fan. He said take a break if I want and they'll be there when I'm ready to come back. In the mean time, I can message him.

It's dad who's making me feel this way really. The guy who got me into Celtic.

So ironically it has little to do with football, just I'm prone to stereotype.

And yeah, like I said I only have a problem with it when it's people being serious - not joking - about liking the Provos. That's all over Twitter and some of the people are from the North of Ireland (as in not Scots with Irish roots but people living in Belfast and Derry) and it makes me wonder if some of them are RIRA or something. If you criticise Provos or even RIRA people think you're a Unionist.

It's good for Irish people/Irish diaspora to listen to historical songs about Ireland. It's good for them/us to listen to things about sad stuff which was still happening in the North until fairly recently. Just the answer isn't blowing up civilians.

It sounds like things line, enjoying the football without being caught up in the politics. If you can learn how to navigate your own way through it will hold you in good stead.
I'm sure that half the people on this site have to bite their lip and remind themselves not to comment in the political threads.
I don't know much about Reddit. Hearing about it makes me glad that there isn't a like button on W.P.

@domineekee yeah I like Reddit because as soon as someone posts something extreme political or sectarian (it's only me being aspie which is separating these btw, being pro terrorism is wrong) on a Scottish football sub, they get banned. But there's small p politics as well as large p politics.

And I feel like it was probably a right winger who has problems with people being on disability pay who was giving me hassle anyway.

@ellishbillie987 yeah. I dress for comfort and to show my passion for things I love. Not for society. When I dressed for society I was uncomfortable. NT bigots probably hate that.

Not all NTs are bigots though. My mum doesn't hate autistic people. Society in general is bad for aspies but that doesn't mean everyone who is NT hates us, that's a form of bigotry on its own.
