Hi. Moderator, I'm not sure which topic to put this under so I'm going to leave it here.
This last December I left a man whom I feel was both using me and abusive towards me. I have spoken to the Sheriffs Office in the area where all this happened and I'm trying to bring charges against him. I've been told I will be assigned an advocate by the prosecutors office. I'm not sure but I believe this might fall under disability abuse and don't know if it will be in addition to or instead of assault charges.
I am concerned that the advocate I get might not be familiar with the Autism Spectrum and how it presents in adults. Is there anywhere I can look for an appropriate advocate or shall I just ask the prosecutors office to find me one? Also do I have to provide expert witnesses or do they provide what is needed?
So far the people I have spoken to seem nice, respectful and willing to help me.
